Principal Product Architect

We work a hybrid model (3 days in the office and 2 days work from home); this position is located in our Minneapolis Metro headquarters. ​​​​​​ Our Corporate Product Development Group is seeking interest for a Principal Product Architect. Are you passionate about defining the technical roadmap and platform architecture for customer-facing solutions? Do you have experience designing cloud-native microservices platforms? Do you enjoy providing technical leadership to application and DevOps teams? We're looking for someone to serve as the lead architectural voice for our customer-facing platform--ensuring BIW has a scalable, modern software foundation that meets the evolving needs of our clients. Responsibilities of this position will include : Evaluate long-term business needs and align them with the overall system architecture. Lead strategic architectural decision-making to support future capabilities. Collaborate with product owners to brainstorm, define, and design effective solutions. Provide technical leadership to architect and design products. Establish and uphold technical standards across the platform. Mentor development leads and architects across the organization (influence without direct management). Security -- Ensure applications and environments are secure to industry and BIW standards, and that we have strategies and processes to remain secure. Partner with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to align application and infrastructure strategies. Interact with and influence all members of product teams including product owner, engineering manager, front and back-end developers, QA, UX/designers, management. Artificial Intelligence -- Set the technical strategy for AI within the SAAS platform, as well as AI for team productivity. Play a key role in incident response and resolution of critical issues. Stay informed about emerging technologies--evaluate their potential, and lead integration where appropriate. Ideal candidates will possess the following requirements: Proven experience architecting and designing cloud-native, microservices-based platforms. Ability to translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical designs. Hands-on experience with modern technology stacks, including: JavaScript, Java Kubernetes, Docker Kafka, PostgreSQL CDNs, CI/CD pipelines Deep understanding of agile methodologies and modern software development practices. Strong communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to mentor and guide senior technical talent. Equally comfortable coding, doing code reviews, making technology design and platform decisions, explaining technical concepts and decisions, talking with Product Owners about product features, and/or talking with executive leaders about technology. Experience implementing AI product solutions and using AI for productivity. Security & Platform Health Focus In addition to the above, also ensure all applications and environments are: Secure -- aligned with industry and BIW security standards Performant -- delivering fast and consistent user experiences Observable -- with logging, tracing, and monitoring for proactive insights Base Salary Range: $180,000.00 to $220,000.00. The final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, and skills.
