As we expand our operations across Europe, we are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager – Battery Scrap to establish and scale our raw material sourcing network throughout the European market.
Position Overview
The Procurement Manager will be responsible for developing and managing the procurement of end-of-life batteries and battery manufacturing scrap across Europe. This role requires building strategic relationships with suppliers, negotiating commercial agreements, identifying new sourcing opportunities, and ensuring a consistent supply of raw materials for our recycling operations.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in battery recycling, metal recycling, waste management, industrial procurement, or commodity trading, along with a strong network within the European battery ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for battery scrap sourcing across Europe.
- Source and procure:
- Lithium-ion battery scrap
- EV battery packs and modules
- Battery manufacturing scrap
- Lead-acid batteries
- Consumer electronics batteries
- Energy storage system (ESS) batteries
- Industrial batteries
- Build long-term partnerships with:
- Battery recyclers
- EV manufacturers
- Automotive OEMs
- Battery manufacturers
- Electronics manufacturers
- Waste management companies
- Collection and dismantling partners
- Scrap dealers and traders
- Identify new suppliers and establish procurement channels across Germany and the wider European market.
- Negotiate commercial agreements, pricing, payment terms, contracts, and supply commitments.
- Coordinate logistics and cross-border transportation with freight and compliance teams.
- Monitor battery scrap availability, commodity prices, and market trends.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with European environmental, waste management, and battery transportation regulations.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships while continuously expanding the procurement network.
- Work closely with the management team to achieve monthly and annual procurement targets.
- Represent Black Mass Energies at industry conferences, exhibitions, supplier meetings, and trade events across Europe.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 0–8+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, trading, recycling, or industrial raw materials.
- Experience in one or more of the following industries:
- Battery recycling
- Lithium-ion batteries
- Lead-acid batteries
- EV industry
- Metals and commodities
- Scrap recycling
- Waste management
- Strong network within the European battery recycling or battery manufacturing ecosystem.
- Excellent negotiation and commercial management skills.
- Strong analytical and supplier relationship management capabilities.
- Ability to travel extensively across Europe.
- Fluency in English is required. German or any additional European language is an advantage.
