About the role
CGK designs and imports bedding and home textile products from manufacturing partners across Asia for the U.S., Canadian, and EU markets, selling through Amazon and retail channels across a portfolio that has recently expanded through brand acquisitions.
That growth has multiplied the filing and recordkeeping side of compliance faster than the judgment side. Every product line carries a stack of recurring obligations — safety certificates, government registrations, marketplace documentation requests, EPR declarations, state licensing renewals — and each one is individually simple but collectively time heavy.
This role exists to own that volume. You are responsible for downstream compliance and government compliance execution: keeping every filing current, every certificate issued, every registration renewed, and every marketplace and agency documentation request answered on time. You work directly under the Supply Chain Coordinator, who sets the compliance positions and owns the regulatory judgment calls. You the tracking, and the paper trail.
This is a strong fit for someone early in a compliance, trade, or supply chain career who wants hands-on exposure to CPSC, CBP, FTC, and EU regulatory work.
Key responsibilities
Government filings & registrations
- Prepare General Certificates of Conformity (GCCs) and Children’s Product Certificates (CPCs) from approved templates using third-party lab test reports; route to the manager for review and signature.
- Maintain the CPSC eFiling record set — certificate data, ASIN/SKU mapping, product line coverage — and flag gaps before shipments move.
- Track and renew state bedding/law label licensing and registration numbers across applicable states.
- Maintain FTC textile identification (RN) records and ensure fiber content and country-of-origin data on file matches what is printed on labels.
- Support import documentation requests from the customs broker: certificates, test reports, entry-support documents, UFLPA due diligence files.
- Maintain Prop 65 and state chemical disclosure records where applicable.
E
PR registrations & reporting
- Own the EPR calendar across registered markets (Germany, France, Spain, Finland, Czech Republic, and additional markets as added) — registration renewals, declaration deadlines, and authorized representative documentation.
- Compile packaging and textile volume data from sales exports into the declaration trackers; submit through provider portals or to the appointed representative.
- Monitor U.S. state packaging EPR programs as obligations phase in, and maintain the readiness file.
- Keep provider contracts, registration numbers, and proof-of-filing confirmations organized and retrievable.
Downstream & post-market compliance
- Monitor CPSC recall notices and agency alerts relevant to bedding, textiles, and children’s products; summarize for the manager.
- Assemble backup documentation for supplier chargebacks and defect claims.
Documentation & recordkeeping
- Maintain the technical file for every active SKU: test reports, certificates, labels, artwork, packaging specs, supplier declarations.
- Run the compliance deadline calendar and issue advance reminders on every renewal, declaration, and expiring test report.
- Keep the records system audit-ready at all times.
Scope boundaries — what escalates
This role executes within positions already decided. The following go to the manager, always:
- Any determination of whether a product is regulated, exempt, or which standard applies.
- Any Section 15(b) reportability question or potential safety incident.
- Any agency contact — CPSC, CBP, FTC, or foreign regulator inquiries.
- Any certificate signature or legal-entity attestation.
- Any supplier dispute, corrective action, or claim negotiation.
- Any new-market entry or new regulatory obligation assessment.
Required qualifications
- 0–3 years of experience in compliance, logistics, trade, quality, e-commerce operations, or a comparable administrative-analytical role. Relevant internship or coursework is acceptable.
- Strong Excel skills — pivot tables, lookups, cleaning and reconciling export data.
- Exceptional organization and follow-through. This role lives or dies on deadlines not being missed.
- Clear, professional written English for supplier, lab, and portal correspondence.
- Comfort working inside government and vendor portals and learning new systems quickly.
- Willingness to ask rather than guess. The most important trait in this role is knowing where your authority and expertise stops.
Preferred qualifications
- Exposure to CPSC, CPSIA, FTC textile labeling, or CBP import documentation or other Government Filing Portals.
- Familiarity with EU EPR, packaging compliance, or product stewardship concepts.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, environmental policy, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
Hours & logistics
- ~40 hours per week, with core overlap during U.S. business hours for portal deadlines and team communication.
- Flexible scheduling outside deadline weeks; EPR declaration periods and eFiling batches will require concentrated availability.
- Hybrid or remote, with occasional on-site time in Clearwater as needed (adjust).
- Potential to grow into a full-time compliance role as the portfolio expands.
First 90 days
- Days 1–30 — Learn the portfolio and the record system. Inventory every active certificate, registration, and test report; identify what is missing or expiring.
- Days 31–60 — Take over the compliance deadline calendar and marketplace documentation queue. Close the gaps identified in month one.
- Days 61–90 — Own the EPR reporting cycle end to end under review, and run the certificate-preparation workflow independently up to the signature step.
What success looks like
- No deadline is missed, and nothing is discovered late.
- Any certificate, test report, or registration can be produced within minutes of a request.
- Marketplace and broker documentation requests are answered before they escalate.
- The manager focuses her time on regulatory judgment, supplier issues and Social Responsibility and Compliance system evolution, not on chasing paperwork.
