Product Manager, Orders & Checkout

Location: Remote, US

Compensation: $175,000 base salary plus equity

We are partnering with a Series A product building a commerce, payments, and operational infrastructure platform used by hotel operators.

The company combines marketplace purchasing, procurement, payments, accounting automation, and supplier connectivity into a single platform. Its goal is to reduce the manual work involved in purchasing and help hospitality teams buy what they need more efficiently and reliably.

Founded by Ex-Plaid and backed by a leading venture capital firm, the business has built an exceptional team of around 24 people and is entering its next stage of growth.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Product Manager to own the company’s Smart Cart, checkout, and order management experience.

Although placing an order may appear simple, the underlying workflow can involve multiple suppliers, approval processes, delivery cut-offs, minimum order requirements, budget constraints, changing stock availability, supplier website automations, email-based orders, and payment workflows.

You will own the end-to-end journey from building a cart through checkout, approval, order routing, fulfilment, and issue resolution.

A major focus will be improving order reliability. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and customers to identify where orders fail, reduce manual intervention, improve customer communication, and build systems that can scale.

What You’ll Own

  • The Smart Cart, checkout, and order management experience.
  • The customer journey from cart creation through approval, routing, fulfilment, and issue resolution.
  • Supplier automations and integrations used to place and manage orders.
  • Order failure detection, prioritisation, and recovery workflows.
  • Customer communication when an order is delayed, changed, or unsuccessful.
  • Approval flows, budget controls, delivery requirements, and supplier-specific purchasing rules.
  • Product requirements, roadmaps, service levels, and success metrics for order reliability.
  • Internal tools and processes used to manage operational exceptions.
  • Reducing manual intervention across the order lifecycle.

What Excites You

  • Turning complex, multi-step operational workflows into simple and reliable customer experiences.
  • Digging into how systems work in practice by reviewing support tickets, shadowing customer calls, and investigating individual failures.
  • Identifying the root cause behind broad customer feedback such as “the order did not work” or “this process is frustrating.”
  • Designing graceful failure states rather than assuming every automation will work perfectly.
  • Deciding how and when customers should be informed when an order is delayed, changed, or unsuccessful.
  • Working across product, engineering, operations, and customer experience.
  • Doing manual work when necessary while continually looking for opportunities to automate and scale.
  • Building products where reliability directly affects whether customers receive what they need to operate their businesses.
  • Working in a small team where you have significant autonomy and visible impact.

What We’re Looking For

  • 4 to 8 years of experience in product management, product operations, technical operations, or a similarly product-oriented role.
  • Experience owning a technically or operationally complex product area.
  • Strong product judgement and the ability to turn customer and operational problems into clear priorities.
  • The ability to map complex workflows, identify failure points, and prioritise problems based on customer and commercial impact.
  • Strong technical literacy, including comfort working with engineers on automations, APIs, integrations, system constraints, and failure modes.
  • Experience defining product requirements, metrics, service levels, and operational processes.
  • Strong user experience instincts, particularly around checkout, onboarding, error handling, or customer communication.
  • Comfort investigating individual incidents and using them to identify broader product improvements.
  • A low-ego, hands-on approach. You are willing to solve the immediate customer problem while also building the system that prevents it from happening again.
  • The ability to operate independently in an early-stage environment where the product function is still evolving.
  • Clear communication and the ability to translate between customers, operational teams, and engineers.

Bonus Points

  • Experience building checkout, cart, ordering, procurement, or merchant-facing products.
  • Experience with marketplaces, B2B commerce, payments, or order management systems.
  • Experience working with supplier integrations, workflow automation, or internal operational tooling.
  • Experience in hospitality, procurement, supply chain, or another operationally complex industry.
  • A background in engineering, design, analytics, or technical implementation.
  • Experience at a Series A or Series B company.
  • Experience moving from product operations into broader product ownership.
