Professional/Physician Practice Coder -Health Information Management -REMOTE

Join Rome Health in Rome, NY, as an Inpatient Coder and play a vital role in our healthcare revenue cycle. Position Summary What You Will Do Code Encounters: Code discharged inpatient encounters accurately. Assign DRGs: Utilize the Clintegrity encoder for precise Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) assignment. Collaborate: Work alongside Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) nurses. Submit Queries: Clarify documentation with providers when needed. Support Quality: Assist with DRG appeals and meet established productivity and quality standards. Identify Trends: Help the Coding Manager spot workflow problems or emerging trends. Stay Current: Maintain active coding knowledge, certifications, and expertise in Medicare rules. What You Need Education: High School diploma required. Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. Certifications: Must hold at least one of the following credentials: RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) CCA (Certified Coding Associate) CPC (Certified Professional Coder) Skills & Knowledge: Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities. Solid grasp of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines, CPT, and HCPCS.
