You will be a part of a Lifecycle Management / Facility Asset Management team that supports strategic capital renewal planning and capital renewal project initiation for fire stations, recreation facilities, transit garages, transit facilities, emergency operations centres, police facilities, libraries, and River Valley facilities. Additionally, you’ll support demolition programs, energy audits, and site remediation projects. Reporting to a Program Manager in Lifecycle Management, these positions support the City’s Strategic Plan on how Infrastructure Services manage facilities and infrastructure. With a strong focus on client satisfaction, the Project Coordinator supports a Program Manager and a team of Project Managers within the facilities renewal portfolio. In this role, you will assist in strategic capital renewal planning and the initiation of capital renewal projects by ensuring project management principles are incorporated into business practices and that project plans are developed, executed, and monitored. You will also play a key role in supporting the integration of effective project management practices into all activities and initiatives. What will you do? Liaise with business partners and support the Project Manager, Program Manager, and team during the strategic renewal planning, project stakeholder engagement, and implementation phases Support and prepare project documentation according to established Project Management methodologies and input essential project data into the Project Management Information System (PMIS) Lead and/or support the preparation, execution, review, and administration of consulting agreements and construction contracts Monitor and report on any scope, schedule, or budget variances to the Project Manager and Program Manager, recommending and implementing approved mitigation strategies Attend scheduled site meetings and perform vital administrative and support activities throughout the project lifecycle Perform rigorous site inspections to ensure all work conforms to drawings, specifications, building codes, and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards Record detailed vendor performance metrics and contribute to the continuous improvement of internal project management practices Develop lifecycle renewal plans to support the development of project initiation documentation including project scope, cost estimates, and schedules Develop and maintain data tracking documentation for Business Partner requests and initiated projects Support the Program Manager and Project Manager with Energy Audit projects for Capital Renewal Program Planning Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications : Completion of a degree in a related field such as Engineering, Architecture, or Project Management and a minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience in project management for infrastructure design and construction of facilities/buildings OR a Diploma in a related field such as Engineering, Construction, Architecture, or Project Management and a minimum of four (4) years of directly related experience in project management for infrastructure design and construction of facilities/buildings Assets: Coursework or formal training in project coordination, project management, and/or asset management Skills required for success: Solid understanding of construction processes related to architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and landscaping disciplines Comprehensive knowledge of infrastructure asset management, including the City of Edmonton C598A Policy Asset Management, C598A Procedure Asset Management, and the 2024-2028 Strategic Infrastructure Asset Management Plan Strong project coordination skills, including an understanding of project management methods and techniques based on PMBOK best practices Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of projects Proven planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills Experience supporting public engagement processes Superior conflict resolution and negotiation skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts clearly Ability and willingness to develop strong relationships and work in a collaborative and integrated manner Experience working with external consultants and contractors Working knowledge of relevant codes, legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures including OH&S, environmental guidelines, and the Builders Lien Act Experience working with SAP or similar enterprise software systems Proficiency with computer applications utilized in project management and construction environments Strong ability to create accurate and complete job hazard analyses, site reports, and other written project documentation Proven ability to effectively handle sensitive information using discretion Exceptionally strong interpersonal, teamwork, and prioritization skills to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse collaborators Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( https://bit.ly/4brRrXm ) Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation, and inclusion Alignment with the goals of the City Plan Conditions of Employment: Must be willing to complete required environmental protection and safety training Candidates are required to hold a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) or higher.
