Project Finance Supervisor

Role Description The Project Finance Supervisor is a full-time hybrid role based in Cape Town, with the flexibility to work from home part of the time. The supervisor oversees project budgeting, financial planning, and cost control across multiple consultancy assignments, ensuring accurate allocation of resources and alignment with contractual and donor requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing financial reports, monitoring project expenditures, tracking revenue and cash flow, and supporting financial forecasting for ongoing and new projects. The role collaborates closely with project managers and senior consultants to advise on financial risks and opportunities, streamline financial processes, and improve financial compliance with organizational policies and relevant regulations. The supervisor also contributes to internal financial systems development, supports audits, and helps strengthen financial management practices that enable sustainable, socially impactful projects.
Qualifications

• Strong project finance and accounting skills, including budgeting, cost monitoring, and financial reporting for multi-project environments.
• Proficiency with financial software and tools (e.g., spreadsheets, accounting systems, project management platforms) and high numerical accuracy.
• Experience with donor-funded or grant-funded projects, including compliance with funding agreements and preparation of financial documentation for audits.
• Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends and risks, and present clear recommendations to project and leadership teams.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with capacity to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and shifting priorities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse, multidisciplinary, and international teams.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., SAIPA, CIMA, ACCA) is an advantage.
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice, socioeconomic development, or non-profit/consulting environments is beneficial.
• Experience in a hybrid work setting and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high ethical and professional standards.
