Key Responsibilities Project Funding Engineer-Eng I, II, or III Salt Lake City, UT The Utah Division of Water Resources "Plans, Conserves, Develops, and Protects Utah's Water Resources". If you are passionate about water and helping Utah conserve and develop this resource, this job will be rewarding. The Division of Water Resources is seeking a dedicated, creative, and detail-oriented engineer to assist the Board of Water Resources (Board) in managing the funding of water projects throughout Utah. You will have the opportunity to meet with water providers from all over the state and to see projects go from the funding application stage through completion of construction. The Board receives project funding applications from water providers requesting funding for a water project. Each application is assigned to a project manager who will visit with the applicant and prepare a report for the Board which outlines the details of the proposed project. The project manager presents this report to the Board. As project manager, you will work with the applicant through completion of project construction, including site visits and reimbursing project costs. Qualifications Principal Duties: • Assist project funding applicants through the Board funding process. • Work directly with Board members for projects in their areas. • Prepare and present funding reports to the Board at regular board meetings. • Prepare reports, contracts, and agreements for proposed projects. • Process reimbursement requests, verifying that state funds are used for the intended project scope. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited university. • Strong communication skills. • Effective ability to convey information through written and verbal reports. • Experience with cost estimates and financial calculations. • General knowledge of Utah's water sources and needs. • Experience with planning and developing water projects. Typical Qualifications: • Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and effectively, listen to and understand information and ideas as presented verbally. • Experience coordinating the activities or tasks of people, groups, and/or organizations. • Strong writing skills. • Strong presentation skills. • Knowledge of principles, theories, and practices of engineering, financial management, and technical writing. • Ability to use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions. • Ability to develop approaches for implementation of an idea, program, or change in operations. • Ability to establish objectives and specify the strategies and actions to achieve these objectives. • Ability to evaluate information against a set of standards. Additional Information: • May need to be out of town 1 to 3 nights a few times a year. • Will visit construction sites to verify funding and reimbursement requests. • This may include travel to locations throughout the state and may require overnight stays. • This may include walking on active construction sites with large machinery, obstacles, open trenches, and noisy, dirty conditions. • Site conditions will be weather dependent, including cold, heat, mud, snow, and other outdoor conditions. • Risks found in the typical office setting are adequately lit, heated, and ventilated, including safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, and observing fire regulations. • Typically, the employee may sit to perform the work. There may also be walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, and driving an automobile. Telework may be optional.
