AECOM is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Manager to be based out of Salt Lake City, Utah and support municipal and industrial water and wastewater projects in the Salt Lake area and across the western United States. This role will participate in the planning, design, construction, startup, and commissioning of water and wastewater infrastructure projects including treatment facilities, pump stations, process systems, pipelines, storage facilities, and utility infrastructure. The successful candidate will work with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, designers, constructors, clients and operators to deliver projects from concept through startup and operational readiness. This position is ideal for an emerging project manager with a strong technical background and experience coordinating complex projects involving field execution, stakeholder engagement, system testing, and commissioning. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Support project management and project delivery activities for water and wastewater facility projects. Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, design, construction and operations teams throughout project development and execution. Assist with preparation and management of project scopes, schedules, budgets, risk registers and project work plans. Track project progress, identify schedule risks, and facilitate resolution of technical and logistical issues. Lead project meetings and communicate project status to internal teams and clients. Support procurement planning, equipment tracking, material readiness reviews and vendor coordination. Coordinate construction-phase activities including field inspections, contractor coordination and issue resolution. Develop and implement startup and commissioning plans for facilities, pumping systems and process equipment. Support system acceptance criteria, testing protocols, operational readiness reviews, and turnover documentation. Coordinate commissioning activities with design teams, contractors, equipment suppliers, and facility operators to ensure successful startup and performance verification. Assist in the development of QA/QC procedures, inspection reports and technical documentation. Participate in client meetings, project presentations and business development efforts. Support preparation of proposals, statements of qualifications (SOQs) and technical approaches for new opportunities. Promote a strong safety culture and commitment to quality throughout all phases of project delivery. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related technical discipline; or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Valid driver's license and ability to travel periodically to project sites. Preferred Qualifications Experience with water, wastewater, industrial process, utility or infrastructure projects. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering or construction projects. Experience with project scheduling, stakeholder coordination, procurement and technical project execution. Experience supporting facility startup, commissioning, system qualification or operational readiness activities. Experience coordinating installation, testing, and turnover of complex mechanical, process or utility systems. Familiarity with treatment processes, pump stations, utility systems, process piping or industrial facilities. Experience using project management and collaboration platforms such as Jira, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 or similar tools. Strong organizational, communication and client-facing skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate diverse stakeholder groups. EIT certification or progress toward professional licensure is a plus. Experience managing project scope, schedule, and resource requirements. Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience coordinating field construction and installation activities. Understanding of commissioning methodology, startup sequencing, system testing, and facility turnover. A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement. Passion for delivering critical infrastructure projects that improve community resilience and environmental sustainability.
