Department (OPH) WADS Information Technology Group Job Description: If selected to interview, in person interviews will be required. Responisbilities The Project Manager I will perform technical project management for information technology systems supporting the Wadsworth Center. The Project Manager I will manage and oversee project progress, defining the project scope, identifying dependencies, and developing the schedule based on project objectives, timelines and budgets. Specific duties include defining, monitoring, and reporting on key milestones and risks; working with project leads to track project activities; documentation of system design; managing enhancement requests and defect remediation; coordinating meetings and leading daily stand-ups with project team; coordinating with technical leads on development and testing activities; leading interactions with our customers and subject matter experts including human centered design sessions within laboratory space; coordination of application deployments; authoring and coordinating knowledge articles and developing operational support plans. Further, the Project Manager I will ensure that information technology projects are delivered within budget and on schedule. The Project Manager I will be responsible for ongoing monitoring of application availability and will manage and oversee the response to end user issues. This position will be responsible for regularly communicating and managing risks, along with administrative work to support project needs. Supervision of staff. Other related duties as assigned. Occasional night/weekend work will be expected. Wadsworth Center serves a vital role in the New York State Department of Health’s efforts to protect and promote the health of New York’s citizens. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years of experience in program administration or management, project management, or a related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and seven years of such experience; OR nine years of such experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. At least three years of experience must have included supervision of staff. Preferred Qualifications Five years of experience managing a portfolio of information technology projects in a cross-functional environment. Previous experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and laboratory sample workflows. Five years of experience in developing project management deliverables such as project scope documents, project plans, budgets, risk identification, mitigation plans, disaster recovery plans and project schedules. Three years of experience in information technology testing. Three years of experience in governmental setting. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Three years of experience implementing Agile methodology. Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Travel up to 10 % of the time will be required. The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Regardless of telecommuting status, all HRI employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of their official work location and must reside in one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Vermont.
