JHC Consulting is a small, deliberate advisory practice that provides counsel to heads of industry, board committees, and chief executives. We focus on strategy and governance questions where the internal view requires external challenge. Our current work includes a significant mandate for a major European regulatory agency, where we are conducting a dissenting read of internal cases and providing a written record of our analysis. We are looking for a Project Support Intern to assist our principals in managing the research and documentation required for this engagement. This is a fully remote role that requires a high degree of intellectual discipline and a focus on the written word.
The Role
In this role, your primary task is to support the production of written memoranda. You will spend a significant portion of your time reading internal documents, regulatory files, and historical records. You will assist in the synthesis of complex information and the verification of facts that underpin our analysis. Unlike traditional consulting roles, you will not be creating slide decks or participating in typical management ceremonies. Instead, you will help maintain the written record of our advisory work. This involves organizing document timelines, assisting with literature reviews, and ensuring that every piece of evidence cited in our memoranda for the European regulatory agency is properly sourced and archived. You will be responsible for tracking the progress of various research threads and ensuring the principals have the necessary information to form their arguments.
What You Bring
We look for candidates who understand that writing is thinking. You should have a background in the humanities, social sciences, or law, where the ability to construct a logical argument is essential. As this is an entry level internship, we value your ability to read critically and summarize information accurately. You must be comfortable working independently in a remote environment and managing your own tasks without constant oversight. The following attributes are necessary for success in this position:
- A high standard for written English and the ability to draft clear, concise notes.
- The capacity to read long-form documents and identify gaps in a narrative.
- Basic proficiency in research methods and data organization.
- A disciplined approach to deadlines and project timelines.
- Intellectual maturity and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Familiarity with standard document management tools.
- A willingness to have your work scrutinized and revised for clarity and logic.
How We Work
JHC Consulting operates on a model where every engagement results in a signed memorandum. We believe that writing an argument down forces a level of scrutiny that conversation cannot match. As an intern, you will observe this process closely and contribute to the supporting materials that lead to these final documents. We do not use corporate boilerplate or generic templates. Every claim we make must be traced back to a clear assumption. This requires a high degree of individual accountability. You will see firsthand how a small, focused firm provides counsel by naming uncomfortable truths and maintaining a rigorous standard for evidence.
Working at JHC Consulting
This position is a full-time internship conducted entirely remotely. The role is paid, and the compensation is competitive for the advisory sector. Because we do not maintain a physical office, you will have the autonomy to manage your work environment. This firm is kept small by design to ensure that every mandate receives the thorough reading it deserves. You will work directly with our principals, who come from backgrounds in corporate finance and strategic advisory, gaining exposure to how boards and regulatory heads approach difficult governance questions through the discipline of the written record.
At JHC Consulting, the author's name sits at the foot of every page. This creates a culture where the work is conducted with a high degree of individual responsibility. We accept only a limited number of mandates each quarter to ensure our analysis remains sharp and our writing remains precise. For a junior professional, this environment offers a serious introduction to the rigors of professional advisory and the importance of maintaining a written record in complex institutional environments.
