We're looking for a detail-oriented, client-focused Property Accountant to manage the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of assigned properties. This is a client-facing role — you'll serve as the primary liaison between the accounting team and property management, so excellent communication skills are a must. The ideal candidate is confident leading either Commercial or Residential accounting and brings hands-on experience with Yardi and/or Real Estate Accounting.

What You'll Do
Accounts Payable & Cash Management
Review and verify invoices posted to AP for accuracy and reasonableness; recommend corrections to vendor, amount, or property coding as needed
Process weekly AP check runs, ensuring adequate cash is available while reserving funds for upcoming payroll and mortgage obligations
Process and record mortgage payments ahead of due dates to avoid late fees
Process bi-weekly payroll transfers accurately and on schedule
Process multi-family Grubb invoices promptly upon receipt from the corporate controller
Anticipate and project property-level cash flow, proactively flagging upcoming cash needs to management
Bank & Account Reconciliation
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and maintain accurate, up-to-date cash balances across all property accounts
Complete lender draws accurately and on time
Accounts Receivable
Reconcile the monthly aged accounts receivable delinquency report
Track miscellaneous AR items through to collection and proper accounting treatment
Identify past-due receivables and consult with property management on collection issues and potential write-offs
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
Perform month-end entries and accruals (tax, insurance, and other unrecorded liabilities)
Review, reconcile, and correct monthly property reports as needed — including Rent Roll, Deposit Summary, Aging Receivables, Aged Payables, and Income Summary
Prepare accurate, GAAP-compliant monthly trial balances, balance sheets, budget comparison reports, and supporting schedules within required deadlines
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for lender requirements
Support year-end tax reporting and annual audits as needed
Client & Team Communication
Submit financials for review to property management and the accounting supervisor, incorporating feedback promptly
Respond to property management inquiries and requests in a timely, professional manner
Ensure sign-off is obtained from the Financial Manager or SVP Accounting on AR aging, AP aging, balance sheet, budget comparison, and all bank reconciliations
Key Deadlines You'll Own
Task Deadline
Payroll transfers Set up Wednesday if received before 5pm EST; otherwise completed by 10am EST Thursday
AP check run batch selections Sent to AP staff by noon EST Thursday
Mortgage payments Before applicable late fees apply
Grubb invoices Processed within 48 hours of receipt
Bank reconciliations Completed by the 18th (for a 16th close)
What We're Looking For
Strong communicator — comfortable acting as the direct point of contact between accounting and property management
Yardi experience and/or solid Real Estate Accounting background
Working knowledge of GAAP
Ability to manage multiple deadlines across AP, AR, payroll, and reconciliations without sacrificing accuracy
Comfortable operating independently and confidently across either Commercial or Residential property accounting
Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to cash flow planning
Availability during normal EST business hours, with flexibility as needed
