Psychiatrist Western Wayne Inkster - Inkster, MI 48141 Quick Apply Overview Position Type Part Time Job Shift Day Category Health Care Quick Apply Description This position can be Full Time or 2 days Remote Job Discription: The Psychiatrist is a primary provider of behavioral health care services at WWFHC performing a full range of psychiatrist assignments in a full-functioning capacity. The Psychiatrist works with the behavioral health and primary care providers under established protocols and the approved clinical policies of WWFHC to provide quality integrated comprehensive health care to patients. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTION AND DUTIES 1. Participates in the diagnosis and treatment of newly admitted, convalescent, and chronic patients. 2. Completes physical, mental, and neurological examinations of assigned patients. 3. Reviews medical information submitted to obtain social security disability benefits and provides expert opinion on acceptability or rejection of claims. 4. Treats medical, surgical, psychiatric, and neurological problems of patients in the facility. 5. Consults with patients, their families, other medical professionals, attorneys, teachers, and other interested persons to interpret clinical findings. 6. Conducts group and family therapy sessions. 7. Prepares diagnostic reports for judges, administrative law examiners, federal government officials, school officials, physicians, and other interested parties. 8. Provides expert witness testimony in courts of law and administrative hearings regarding the status of patients or social security disability income claimants. 9. Directs and instructs nurses, other professional support staff, attendants, and residents in the care and treatment of patients. 10. Provides instruction and guidance to social security disability income examiners in the review of medical and psychological disability claims. 11. Prescribes medications for the treatment of physical and psychological disorders. 12. Attends and participates in general and teaching staff conferences. 13. Receives advanced training in the field of psychiatry or neurology. 14. Researches cognitive disorders to identify treatment methods. 15. Delivers speeches to lay and professional groups concerning mental hygiene, child guidance, and related topics. 16. Oversees the work of professional staff by making and reviewing work assignments, establishing priorities, coordinating activities, and resolving related work problems. 17. Performs related work as assigned. 18. Performs on a regular basis, professional psychiatric assignments that are identified by the agency as highly complex in nature. CLINIC WIDE RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Looks for and suggests ways to better meet customer needs. d. Answers clinic communications systems promptly and with courtesy and respect. 2. Teamwork: a. Works cooperatively within own department and other areas. b. Willingly accepts additional responsibility – tries to make others job easier. c. Responds quickly to request for assistance. d. Required to work closely with patients and associates. e. Interacts with other departments on problem issues. f. Accepts feedback from patients, visitors, clinic employees, physicians and general public. 3. Continuous Improvement: a. Continuously looks for and suggests ways to improve. b. Effectively completes assignment to achieve the greatest benefits at acceptable cost. c. Implements improvements as appropriate. d. Demonstrates interest in own growth and development by: i. Periodically evaluating own performance. ii. Demonstrating an awareness of personal abilities and limitations. iii. Independently seeking means to make improvements. e. Attends and participates in in-services and continuing education programs f. Attends departmental meetings. 4. Communications: a. Keeps appropriate people informed. b. Speaks and writes clearly, concisely, and appropriately for need. c. Listens carefully. d. Communicates tactfully. e. Understands that all confidentiality and privacy considerations are respected and fostered at work and off duty. 5. Self –Management: a. Presents a positive image of Western Wayne Family Health Center at all times. b. Carries out assignments with little need for direction. c. Timeliness. d. Maintains confidentiality. e. Provides proper notification of absence and tardiness. f. Works weekends and shifts when necessary. Qualifications EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Possession of a medical degree from an accredited school of medicine Board Eligible/Certified in a primary care specialty from an accredited school of medicine Completion of three years of successful training in a psychiatric residency-training program which yields a certificate of completion. Possession of a unrestricted license to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine in Michigan. Possession of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology “general requirements” for certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Must be currently holding, or eligible for, admitting privileges and member in good standing at community and/or tertiary hospitals.
