PYTHON DEVELOPERS WANTED | WORK ON NEXT-GENERATION TELECOM & AI TECHNOLOGY
Location: Remote within Italy

Contract: Freelance, long-term
Initial Contract: 6 months + guaranteed extension
Experience: 3–5 years' commercial Python experience

We're partnering with one of Italy's leading telecommunications and digital technology organisations, delivering advanced connectivity, cloud, digital and technology solutions to millions of customers across the country.
They are looking to strengthen their engineering team with an experienced Python Developer to work on a high-profile technology programme combining software engineering, networking and AI.
The ideal candidate will be an autonomous engineer who can take ownership of their work, solve problems independently and contribute throughout the software development lifecycle.
The team is predominantly based in Milan, so candidates already located in Milan or nearby are particularly attractive, although the role is fully remote within Italy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and optimise high-quality software solutions primarily using Python.
- Work on complex software solutions within a networking and telecommunications environment.
- Develop and maintain data processing and machine learning solutions using technologies such as PyTorch and PySpark.
- Work with engineering teams to design, implement, test and deploy scalable software.
- Take ownership of technical tasks and deliver solutions with a high degree of autonomy.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify effective solutions.
- Contribute to software architecture and technical decision-making where appropriate.
- Collaborate with other developers, data specialists, engineers and technical stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement across development processes, tooling and software quality.
- Where required, contribute to the integration of AI and advanced data technologies into existing software platforms.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years' commercial experience developing with Python.
- Strong Python programming skills — Python should be your primary development language.
- Experience working in networking, telecommunications, infrastructure or a closely related technical environment.
- Experience with PyTorch and/or PySpark.
- Strong understanding of software development principles and best practices.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical deliverables.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate autonomously in a technically complex environment.
- Good understanding of APIs, integrations and software development workflows.
- Professional English is required.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AWS or other major cloud platforms.
- Some experience with Java.
- Experience working with AI accelerators or AI-focused infrastructure.
- Broader understanding of the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through development, testing, deployment and maintenance.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps or containerisation technologies.
- Previous experience working within large-scale telecommunications or technology organisations.
- Italian language skills would be advantageous.
