Quality Assurance Engineer

We are further strengthening our QA team and we are looking for a curious and motivated Quality Assurance Engineer to join our NMS team in Tampere. Wirepas NMS is the centralized system our customers rely on to configure, monitor, and manage their Wirepas Mesh networks at scale. Most NMS testing runs against simulators, so the bulk of your work happens independently of physical hardware. In this role, you design and develop test automation, run release testing, and analyze the results together with your team. If you are up for a challenge, this position may be the right one for you!

In Wirepas product development, the Quality Assurance Engineer is part of the NMS QA team and partners closely with developers in our NMS and Backend teams. You write new test automation in Robot Framework and Python, execute release tests, and help us understand what the test results are telling us. You will be supported by the Lead QA Engineer and the rest of the team as you grow in the role.

The position is in Tampere, Finland. You need to have a valid work permit to work in Finland.

About you

You enjoy software testing and have a sharp eye for finding things that don't quite work. You are a self-starter who can manage your time, comfortable working in Linux, and you have some hands-on experience with test automation. You communicate fluently in English as it's the working language at Wirepas.

You like working with a technical team and see opportunities where others see challenges. You are comfortable picking up new tools and asking good questions.

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, your responsibilities include:

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining test automation for Wirepas NMS.
• Executing release testing for NMS and reporting on the results.
• Debugging and analyzing test failures, working with developers to find the root cause.
• Improving test coverage by proposing new test cases and tooling improvements.

For this role we are hoping for you to master:

• Test automation development for backend systems and REST APIs, ideally with Robot Framework.
• Solid Python programming skills are a must. You will maintain and extend the Python utilities that support our test automation, on top of writing new test code. Comfort with Linux is also expected.
• Defect management tools and methods (Jira or similar).
• Good spoken and written English as English is our company language.
• Curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, and exposure to PostgreSQL, MQTT, Docker, or Kubernetes is considered an advantage.
• Experience with embedded or IoT products and a feel for how wireless networks behave is considered an advantage.
• Exposure to security testing tools and methods, for example OWASP ZAP, is considered a plus.
• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent is considered a plus.
