Call Me Sensei is a next-gen, AI-powered language learning app that blends education, anime, and relationship simulation. Users learn Japanese (and other languages) through emotionally engaging interactions with uniquely designed AI characters in a visually stunning, game-like environment. Think Duolingo meets Waifu Simulator meets RPG.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Create and execute test plans for app features including chat, gamification, leaderboard, sensei behaviors, token mechanics, and scenario triggers
Perform functional, regression, UI/UX, load, and exploratory testing
Verify character expressions, animations, and state changes based on mood, stamina, and player interaction
Test integrations for AI dialogue generation, text-to-speech/voice sample playback, and in-app purchases
Collaborate with dev, design, and product teams to ensure features meet requirements
Write and maintain detailed bug reports and track resolution progress using tools like Linear, Jira, or similar
Perform device compatibility testing (especially on lower-end Android and iPhones)
Validate localization and multi-language flows (especially Japanese and English initially)
Contribute to release readiness checks and smoke testing during deployment cycles
Participate in usability and UX feedback sessions — you are the user's first line of defense
Requirements
2+ years of QA experience in mobile app or game testing
Hands-on experience with test case creation, bug tracking tools, and reporting
Familiarity with tools like Postman, Charles Proxy, or Firebase for deeper inspection
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Comfortable in fast-paced, startup-like environments
Ability to test both scripted and unscripted AI-driven scenarios
Fluent in English (Japanese knowledge is a plus)
Bonus Points
Passion for anime, J-culture, dating sims, visual novels, or language learning
Experience testing apps with AI (OpenAI, LLMs, text-to-speech, etc.)
Familiarity with game engines or interactive story platforms
Experience testing token-based systems, NFTs, or gacha mechanics
Can provide feedback on character design, emotional reactions, or voice UX
Familiarity with writing simple test automation (e.g. Detox, Cypress, Appium)
