Quality Coordinator Location: Bakersfield, CA (Hybrid, 2-3 days onsite per week) Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Employment Type: Contract with potential for conversion based on business needs Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Quality Coordinator to support quality improvement initiatives across multiple medical practices. This role is responsible for reviewing patient charts, identifying care gaps, ensuring quality metrics are met, and submitting accurate data to health plans and internal reporting systems. The ideal candidate will have a clinical background, preferably as a Medical Assistant, with experience navigating electronic health records and an understanding of healthcare quality measures. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to improving patient outcomes through accurate chart review and data management. Key Responsibilities Remotely access and review patient medical records through various Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms. Audit patient charts to identify and track quality measures, screenings, and preventative care requirements. Ensure patients meet established healthcare quality metrics and care gap requirements. Enter and maintain accurate information within spreadsheets, databases, and quality tracking tools. Submit applicable quality data to health plans and insurance reporting systems. Collaborate with providers, clinics, and multiple departments to ensure documentation requirements are met. Create reminders and follow-up actions within patient charts to support quality initiatives. Participate in quality improvement projects focused on preventative care and population health outcomes. Maintain productivity goals, with expectations of reviewing and processing approximately 150-200+ charts and quality activities as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Medical Assistant (MA) certification or equivalent clinical healthcare experience. Experience working in Primary Care, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, or Population Health environments. Understanding of healthcare quality measures and preventative care screenings. Experience with chart abstraction, medical record review, or quality improvement initiatives. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data entry processes. Familiarity with one or more of the following EHR systems: Athena Cerner Practice Fusion eClinicalWorks (eCW) Desired Characteristics Highly detail-oriented and accurate. Comfortable performing repetitive chart review and data management tasks. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision. Self-directed and accountable for meeting productivity metrics. Professional, positive, and collaborative attitude. Comfortable working within physician offices and clinical environments. Ability to quickly learn new systems and workflows. Training & Onboarding New hires will receive orientation to internal systems and quality processes. Initial training includes partnering with a Quality Nurse and experienced team members. Training period typically focuses on workflow, quality standards, and reporting requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Redlands, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
