Work with Us. Change the World. At AECOM, we're delivering a better world. Whether improving your commute, keeping the lights on, providing access to clean water, or transforming skylines, our work helps people and communities thrive. We are the world's trusted infrastructure consulting firm, partnering with clients to solve the world’s most complex challenges and build legacies for future generations. There has never been a better time to be at AECOM. With accelerating infrastructure investment worldwide, our services are in great demand. We invite you to bring your bold ideas and big dreams and become part of a global team of over 50,000 planners, designers, engineers, scientists, digital innovators, program and construction managers and other professionals delivering projects that create a positive and tangible impact around the world. We're one global team driven by our common purpose to deliver a better world. Join us. Turn complex models into commercial clarity AECOM's Energy Advisory practice uses quantitative and techno-economic modelling to underpin the advice we give clients on energy transition, market design, investment and policy decisions. As our practice grows, we're looking for a Quantitative Modeller who can work hands-on across a range of modelling approaches from established energy market and dispatch tools through to bespoke, purpose-built models and translate that analysis into commercially grounded advice for clients. This is a client-facing role working closely with a senior advisory team. You'll need to be comfortable working independently, engaging directly with clients, and always connecting your modelling outputs back to the commercial question at hand. We're open to a wide range of experience above our 5-year minimum for a more senior candidate, there's genuine scope to grow into a technical leadership role within the team over time. What you'll be doing Building, running and interrogating quantitative models techno-economic, energy market and dispatch modelling, multi-sectoral modelling, or other bespoke analytical models with the judgement to choose the right approach for the question at hand Framing modelling exercises around the client's actual decision or advisory question, translating technical outputs into clear commercial insight and recommendations Working independently on modelling tasks with minimal oversight, while knowing when to flag assumptions, limitations or emerging findings to senior team members and clients Presenting technical analysis to non-technical audiences and defending modelling assumptions under scrutiny, with strong written communication to translate methods and findings into clear reports and deliverables Applying your quantitative and problem-structuring skills beyond energy where relevant the underlying capability matters as much as sector-specific tools Contributing to, or leading, broader advisory engagements beyond modelling bringing analytical rigour to non-modelling workstreams as needed For more experienced candidates: leading and developing modelling capability mentoring junior modellers, setting technical standards, and shaping how modelling is positioned within broader advisory engagements What you'll bring Minimum 5 years' work experience, including at least 3 years in a quantitative modelling context we welcome candidates well above this minimum, including those ready for technical leadership Experience in quantitative or techno-economic modelling, ideally including energy market/dispatch modelling, multi-sectoral modelling, or bespoke model development Prior experience in an advisory, consulting or client-facing analytical role this is not a back-office modelling role Tertiary qualification in engineering, economics, mathematics, statistics, actuarial studies or a related quantitative discipline; postgraduate qualification a plus, not essential Strong Python skills essential; experience with GAMS, PLEXOS or similar energy modelling tools highly regarded a self-driven appetite to pick up new tools matters just as much as tools already in hand Genuine interest in, or working knowledge of, energy markets and sectoral decarbonisation pathways (e.g. transport electrification, low-carbon liquid fuels, multi-sectoral modelling), balanced with flexibility to apply your skills in other sectors as needed Why AECOM Join a global infrastructure leader where your modelling doesn't sit in isolation it feeds directly into the commercial advice shaping energy transition, investment and policy decisions. You'll work alongside a senior advisory team on high-impact client engagements, with real scope to grow your influence, your toolkit and for the right candidate your leadership footprint within the team. Ready to put your modelling skills to work on the biggest questions in energy? We'd love to hear from you. At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously. To support this commitment, all newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
