Quantitative Researcher – EU Policy & Data Analysis (Verian Lithuania | Remote-friendly / Vilnius) About Verian At Verian , we use research, evidence and data to help governments and public institutions make better decisions. Our Lithuania team brings together researchers, policy experts and data specialists working on complex European and international public policy challenges. We combine rigorous research methods with practical policy understanding, turning complex evidence into clear and useful insights for decision-makers. We are looking for a Quantitative Researcher to join our team and contribute to research and evaluation projects for European and international clients. About the role This role is for someone who enjoys working with data but also wants to understand the policy questions behind it. You will work with large and often complex datasets, helping to prepare, analyse and interpret quantitative evidence across European public policy projects. Your work may include analysing programme and project data, financial and monitoring information, indicators and other socio-economic datasets. Initially, you will contribute particularly to projects related to EU Cohesion Policy and regional development, examining patterns in public investment, programme implementation and performance across regions, programmes and countries. The role goes beyond producing numbers. You will work closely with researchers and policy experts to understand what the data tells us, identify meaningful patterns and limitations, and translate quantitative findings into clear conclusions for policy audiences. What you'll work on Prepare, clean, combine and validate large and complex datasets from different sources. Conduct quantitative analysis using appropriate statistical and econometric methods. Explore patterns, relationships and differences across programmes, regions, countries and other relevant groups. Analyse programme implementation, performance, financial, monitoring and indicator data. Identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, outliers and limitations, and determine how they should be handled analytically. Translate policy and methodological concepts into clear analytical approaches and variables. Interpret quantitative findings in their broader policy and institutional context. Produce clear analytical outputs, including tables, charts, visualisations and concise written analysis. Contribute to research reports, evaluations, impact assessments, presentations and other client-facing outputs. Work collaboratively with researchers, economists, policy experts and project teams across Verian. What we're looking for A strong candidate will bring: Professional experience in quantitative research, data analysis, econometrics or applied social science research. A degree in economics, econometrics, statistics, data science, public policy, social sciences or another field with a strong quantitative component. Strong data management skills, including experience cleaning, combining, validating and analysing complex datasets. A good understanding of quantitative research methods and the ability to select and apply appropriate analytical techniques. Hands-on experience with at least one analytical environment such as Python, R, Stata, SPSS or similar , as well as strong Excel skills. The ability to move beyond purely technical analysis and interpret findings in their policy, economic or institutional context. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a critical approach to data quality and limitations. The ability to communicate quantitative findings clearly to non-technical audiences through writing, tables, charts and visualisations. Excellent written and spoken English. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing transparent, robust and reproducible analysis. What will strengthen your application The following would be valuable, but are not required: Knowledge of EU Cohesion Policy, regional development, public investment or EU funding programmes. Experience working with EU programme, project, financial, monitoring or indicator datasets. Familiarity with European Structural and Investment Funds or other EU funding instruments and monitoring frameworks. Experience analysing programme performance, financial implementation, outputs, results, costs, targets or indicators. Experience with more advanced econometric analysis, including panel data, fixed effects, robustness or sensitivity analysis. Previous experience in policy evaluation, impact assessment, monitoring, applied economic research or EU-funded research projects. Experience using EU-level datasets, administrative data or open-data platforms. Data visualisation skills. Knowledge of additional European languages. What we offer The opportunity to work on meaningful European and international public policy projects where quantitative evidence directly informs decision-making. Access to complex and varied datasets and the opportunity to apply analytical methods to real policy questions. Collaboration with experienced researchers, economists, policy experts and international partners. Opportunities to develop your skills in quantitative research, policy evaluation and applied data analysis. A multicultural and intellectually stimulating working environment. Gross monthly salary from EUR 2,300 to EUR 2,900 , depending on your experience and qualifications. Flexi-time: we operate with no fixed office hours, so you can work when you feel most productive. Hybrid working model with the flexibility to work from home several days per week. Regular team events and workplace initiatives. Access to the Mindletic wellbeing platform. Additional days off as you grow with us, as well as extra personal leave days. Location and working arrangement This is a remote-friendly role , and we welcome candidates based in Lithuania as well as candidates interested in a fully remote working arrangement. Candidates based in Lithuania may be offered employment under a Lithuanian employment contract and have the option to work from our Vilnius office at Gedimino pr. 50. For candidates based outside Lithuania, the exact cooperation arrangement will depend on location and may be organised through a service agreement. If you enjoy using data to understand how policies and public investments work in practice – and want your analysis to contribute to better decisions – we would be happy to hear from you! Please submit your CV through our application system.
