Job Description Overview We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our cost management team. The ideal candidate must have experience in UK construction projects . The role involves preparing detailed cost estimates, managing project costs throughout the project lifecycle, conducting cost analysis, and providing commercial support to clients and project teams. Your role Cost Planning & Estimation Prepare detailed cost estimates, cost plans, budgets, and tender documentation for projects at various design stages. Perform quantity take-offs and measurement in accordance with RICS NRM standards and UK industry practices. Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed estimates using CostX and Excel-based cost models. Analyse drawings, specifications, and project documentation to determine project costs accurately. Conduct benchmarking and cost analysis using historical project data and market intelligence. Raise and respond to RFIs related to commercial and technical issues. Commercial Management Manage project costs from inception through completion. Evaluate contractor and subcontractor tenders and provide recommendations. Assess variations, change orders, and claim. Monitor project expenditures and forecast final project costs. Support procurement strategies and contract administration activities. Identify cost risks and opportunities and provide mitigation recommendations. Stakeholder Management Liaise with clients, consultants, architects, engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders. Present cost reports, estimates, and commercial analyses to clients and senior management. Participate in design and value engineering workshops. Provide commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle. Team Leadership Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors and estimators. Review team deliverables to ensure accuracy and quality standards. Support the development and implementation of cost management best practices. Systems & Software Proficiency Use estimation software such as: CostX (Mandatory). Excel-based cost models. Ensure proper documentation, estimate traceability, and version control. Maintain organized project cost databases and estimation records. Utilize digital tools and systems to improve estimating efficiency and accuracy. About you Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline. Professional membership or progress toward membership with RICS, CIOB, or equivalent is preferred. Minimum 9-15 years of Quantity Surveying/Cost Management experience. Proven experience delivering UK construction projects is mandatory. Strong understanding of: RICS New Rules of Measurement (NRM) UK construction contracts and procurement routes Cost planning and estimating methodologies Tendering and commercial management processes Required Skills & Competencies: Advanced cost planning and estimating skills. Strong quantity take-off and measurement capabilities. Expertise in CostX software. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including cost modelling. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent report writing and presentation skills. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
