Job Title: Radio Engineer
Location:Remote
Employment Type: Full-time
Working Days: Monday - Saturday
Working Time :6am est - 3pm est.
About the Role:
We are looking for a versatile Radio Engineer & Presenter who can handle both the technical and on-air aspects of broadcasting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining all broadcast systems and hosting/conducting live radio programs. You will ensure we stay on air technically, while also engaging listeners with compelling content during live shows.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering & Technical
Live Broadcast Support: Provide technical setup and real-time troubleshooting to ensure seamless live radio broadcasts and outside broadcasts.
Transmission & RF Systems: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot transmitters, antennas, feeders, STL links, and other RF equipment.
Studio Engineering: Manage studio setup, mixing consoles, microphones, audio processors, and broadcast automation systems.
Preventive Maintenance & Compliance: Conduct routine checks and ensure all operations meet NBC, NCC, and RF safety standards.
Documentation: Maintain logs for equipment performance, maintenance, and technical reports.
On-Air & Content:
Hosting Programs: Plan, prepare, and host assigned radio programs/shows with engaging content and delivery.
Conducting Live Programs: Present live shows, interviews, news bulletins, phone-ins, and special programs while managing timing and flow.
Audience Engagement: Interact with listeners, manage callers, and maintain energy and professionalism on air.
Content Preparation: Research topics, prepare scripts/talks, and coordinate with the programming team for show segments.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Mass Communication, Broadcasting, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field.
Experience: 3+ years in radio broadcast engineering AND 2+ years experience hosting live radio programs.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of FM transmission, RF systems, audio processing, and broadcast equipment. Proficient with test equipment.
On-Air Skills: Excellent voice, diction, and presentation skills. Ability to think on your feet during live programs.
Other Skills: Content creation, interview skills, problem-solving under pressure, teamwork, and good communication.
Certification: COREN or NBC certification is an added advantage.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with AoIP/digital broadcast systems
Social media/content skills to promote shows
Knowledge of power systems and remote monitoring for transmitter sites
