HEABC leads and supports the strategic planning related to human resources and labour relations on behalf of British Columbia’s publicly funded health employers. HEABC is responsible for negotiating provincial agreements for 138,000 unionized health care employees including nurses, physician residents, ambulance paramedics, health science professionals, and more. HEABC’s Human Resources, Strategies and Services (HRSS) department is responsible for the implementation and management of several provincial programs that support the recruitment and retention of health professionals in British Columbia. The department is home to the Practice Ready Assessment-British Columbia (PRA-BC) program that assesses internationally trained physicians for provisional licensure to work in communities across BC. As a program, PRA-BC has assessed over 300 family physicians since its inception in 2015. These family physicians were placed in 6377 communities throughout BC. We are currently in need of team members who have a passion for customer service and a keen interest in making an impact across communities in BC. The successful candidate may be permitted to work in a hybrid model (combination of in-office and flexible work location) and will live within commuting distance of our Vancouver office. OPPORTUNITY: HEABC has an opening for a 12-month Recruitment Associate in the PRA-BC program. Reporting to PRA-BC’s Program Manager, the Recruitment Associate provides specialized physician recruitment support services. The Recruitment Associate works as a generalist across multiple program components and may also specialize in one or more of these areas, depending on the needs of the program. Responsibilities include: Providing up-to-date, accurate information and advice to physicians on employment in BC. Providing information, expert advice, and assistance to candidates and health employers in dealing with provincial and federal officials, consultants, employers and others with respect to all processes and procedures which may include immigration matters. Communicating eligibility and screening requirements, and referral, interview and selection processes, as necessary. Educating candidates and employers about immigration matters through consultation calls, presentations, developing electronic and printed communications materials. Processing candidate information and applications within relevant programs. Maintaining candidate accounts in the database and producing reports as required. Providing ongoing client service and support, including responding to queries, emails and phone calls. Required Knowledge and Experience Successful completion of human resources diploma or relevant degree and at least two (2) years’ experience in a position requiring knowledge of recruitment practices, immigration matters or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience (preferably in health care). Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, email, and relevant software and online systems. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, written and oral, along with the ability to work with tact, discretion, confidentiality and patience. Must be able to coordinate demanding workloads and meet deadlines as required. Must be flexible and able to work in a team environment. Must be well organized and able to work under minimal supervision. Ability to conduct oral presentations to small and large audiences. Ability and willingness to travel and work extra hours when required. Salary Range: $63,484 to $83,323 Typical Hiring Range: $63,484 to $79,355 In determining salary, HEABC considers many factors including the successful candidate’s skillset and experience as well as internal equity. The final salary offer will be at HEABC’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
