About The Company

The National Governance Association (NGA) is dedicated to improving governance across schools and trusts in England. Through membership, training, consultancy, and e-learning services, NGA supports governors, trustees, and governance professionals in strengthening educational leadership and governance.

The Role

NGA is seeking a Regional Lead – North West to strengthen school and trust governance across the region.

The successful candidate will lead NGA's regional engagement and business development activities by building strategic partnerships, increasing the organization's regional presence, and expanding the reach of NGA's membership, consultancy, training, and digital learning services. The role involves working closely with local authorities, multi-academy trusts (MATs), dioceses, governance associations, and other education stakeholders to understand regional needs and support effective governance.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, MATs, dioceses, governance associations, and other regional stakeholders.
  • Represent NGA at regional events, workshops, presentations, and networking opportunities.
  • Strengthen relationships with local governor and trustee associations.
  • Gather intelligence on regional governance challenges, opportunities, and emerging priorities.

Business Development

  • Identify opportunities to grow NGA membership, consultancy, Learning Link, training, and e-learning services.
  • Develop and manage a regional business pipeline using NGA systems.
  • Contribute to regional and organizational income targets.
  • Develop proposals and service offerings that meet partner needs.

Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain long-term relationships with members, partners, and customers.
  • Support membership renewals and service quality.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve products, guidance, consultancy, and e-learning based on regional insights.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of school and trust governance in England.
  • Knowledge of regional and local public sector structures, particularly within education.
  • Experience in business development, partnership development, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships.
  • Experience delivering governance workshops, presentations, or training.
  • Strong communication, networking, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify growth opportunities.
  • Experience using CRM or similar systems to manage pipelines and customer information.
  • Willingness to travel across the North West and occasionally to NGA's Birmingham office.

Compensation

  • £17,200–£21,240 per annum (£43,000–£53,100 Full-Time Equivalent), depending on experience.

Time Commitment

  • Part-Time
  • 15 hours per week (approximately 2 days per week).
