Medical Affairs team serves as a trusted and reliable source of information about Genetix’s science to healthcare providers around the world. Through scientific and medical communications, we link the innovative science from our labs and clinical research to the patients in the clinic. As the only company with three FDA approved gene therapy products, we have accomplished a lot and now we are driven to bring these therapies to a growing number of deserving patients. They have waited a long time for the cutting-edge science to be brought to the clinic, a goal now accomplished by amazing Genetix team. RESPONSIBILITIES As a member of the Medical Affairs Leadership Team, the Regional Medical Director (RMD) of Gene Thereapy will serve as a subject matter expert and team leader for programs/indications supporting our gene therapy portfolio. The RMD will be an integral member of Medical Affairs and will lead efforts to bridge clinical science and and commercial efforts by ensuring strategic alignment across various internal and external functions and help shape our global gene therapy strategy. On a day-to-day basis, the RMD will focus on peer-to-peer interactions, the development and execution of advisory boards, KOL advocacy, congress presence, and medical symposia. Additionally, the RMD will provide structured feedback to internal teams relative to actionable field insights, help to advance data generation efforts, and ensure team members deliver measurable impact on clinical understanding, access, and appropriate use. Develop and execute Medical Affairs strategy: This includes contributing to the comprehensive strategy for gene therapy across sickle cell disease (SCD) and transfusion dependent thalassemia (TDT) ensuring alignment with the overall company strategy and development of medical plans with supporting the company’s goals and milestones. Build external relationships: Develop external relationships to provide scientific and clinical information on our therapies to key HCP and bring actionable insights from the KOL and treating physicians. Scientific exchange is a key element of this role. Cultivate KOL Advocacy: Engage with trusted, highly influential industry experts to garner support for Genetix’s scientific message, clinical research, and product value with the goal of developing a strategic partnership that enhances product credibility and helps to influence clinical practices. Provide medical leadership to Genetix’s cross-functional teams: Offer medical expertise and input to other teams including commercial, clinical, operations, payor, and advocacy, in support of enhance patient outcomes. Facilitate a strong and consistent medical voice by driving company-wide adoption of the scientific platform and lexicon. Work strategically to break down silos, build trusting relationships, and maximize the utilization data-driven science to manage complex healthcare challenges. Contribute to medical education and communications: Support the creation of evidence-based content that enhances patient-provider communication. Provide feedback to internal stakeholders that aides in the development of tools to improve health literacy and foster empathy. Researching and exploring scientific presentations and publications: Collect the latest data from publications and presentations, gather competitive intelligence in the relevant areas of activity, and summarize key findings for the internal team. Maintain proficiency in the effective delivery of scientific information via in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats utilizing visual aids with a clear narrative that emphasizes results. Ensure compliance: Maintain compliance with applicable company policies and regulations. Ensure that activities including the management, generation, and dissemination of clinical and non-clinical data are conducted with integrity and scientific accuracy. QUALIFICATIONS Medical degree (MD or equivalent) degree, or advanced scientific or clinical training (for example, Ph.D., PharmD or MSN) with at least 7 years of previous combined experience in relevant patient care and/or Medical Affairs. Ability to build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders and other external stakeholders. Previous experience in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, Cell and Gene Therapy or other biologic therapies is required; experience with hemoglobinopathies such as TDT and SCD are also valued. It is important to have strong scientific expertise and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly. Residence in the Southeast or Northeast US preferred. Must have the ability to travel frequently to the treatment centers, referring practices, academic conferences and other engagements. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead technical and business discussions internally and externally. Additional Information The pay transparency range provided below is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and long-term incentive. Actual base salary pay will be based on several factors, including but not limited to experience, skills, relevant education/qualifications, external market, internal equity, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
