Summary : Vighter is recruiting Registered Nurses (RNs) to support the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) in Springfield Virginia. OCMO occupational health professionals are responsible for ensuring the TSA workforce is mission ready. In this role, clinicians will perform medical reviews of employee-completed Annual Medical Certification (AMC) questionnaires, Fitness for Duty (FFD) evaluations, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) documentation, Transportation Security Officer (TSO) applicant medical examinations, and TSO reinstatement medical exam results. Principle Accountabilities : Review and evaluate employee-completed Annual Medical Certification (AMC) questionnaires for completeness and medical sufficiency. Conduct medical reviews of Fitness for Duty (FFD) evaluations and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) documentation in accordance with TSA policies and established clinical guidelines. Review and assess Transportation Security Officer (TSO) applicant and reinstatement medical examination results to support medical qualification determinations. Apply occupational health policies, clinical protocols, and evidence-based nursing practices when evaluating medical records and documentation. Accurately document medical reviews, findings, and recommendations within TSA-approved electronic systems while maintaining strict confidentiality of protected health information (PHI). Ensure all medical reviews are completed accurately, objectively, and within established performance standards and timelines. Collaborate with TSA Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) personnel and authorized stakeholders to resolve medical documentation questions or deficiencies. Attend required onboarding, medical review training, and periodic meetings at TSA Headquarters in Springfield, Virginia, as requested. Maintain an active, unrestricted Virginia nursing license and all required credentials throughout the duration of the contract. Adhere to all federal regulations, TSA policies, HIPAA requirements, and company procedures governing occupational health and medical record management. Perform other contract-related duties assigned to support mission requirements, including surge support during periods of increased workload. Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time. Knowledge and Skills : Must have exceptional customer service skills. Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently. Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment with limited supervision Excellent organizational, scheduling and prioritization skills. Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited university is required. A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited university is preferred. Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of direct and relevant experience in occupational health, employee case management, and medical review processes, including experience with FFD evaluations and review of medical exam records. RNs shall be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia, Duty Hours / On-call Requirements: The expected duty hours for this position are 8 hours per day and 5 days per week. Nurses can work remotely; however, they must be able to physically come to TSA Headquarters in Springfield, VA for medical exam review training (typically held in the first month of employment) and at OCMO request. TSA’s core hours of operation are from 9am – 3pm EST. Work Environment: Location: Location: Springfield, VA (Hybrid/Remote eligible) Supportive team of healthcare professionals and administrative staff. Travel: As required to satisfy the contractual obligations. Commuting is non-compensatory. All official travel is government funded. Physical Requirements : Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day, must be willing to work overtime if necessary. Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet. Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders. Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print. Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear. Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment. Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation. Must undergo Urine Drug Screening (UDS). All nurses must pass TSO Personnel Security (PERSEC) vetting standards for public trust/suitability. Must be a Citizen of the United States or legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
