Job Description: Reliability SME Job Location: Remote (United States – candidates must reside within one hour of a major airport) Travel: Approximately 75% throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico Job responsibilities and tasks The Reliability SME is ANDRITZ's senior technical expert responsible for leading Reliability Engineering and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs across multiple customer sites throughout North America. This role combines advanced reliability engineering, condition monitoring, asset health management, and technical consulting to help customers improve equipment reliability, reduce maintenance costs, eliminate chronic failures, and maximize asset availability. The successful candidate will serve as the company's technical authority for predictive maintenance technologies, reliability assessments, and asset health optimization while supporting contract execution, mentoring engineers and analysts, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across customer operations. This is a remote position requiring approximately 75% travel throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The role combines field work, engineering analysis, customer consulting, technical leadership, and business support. Key Responsibilities: Lead reliability engineering and predictive maintenance programs across multiple customer sites in North America. Perform advanced equipment diagnostics using vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound, motion amplification, motor testing, and oil analysis. Analyze equipment condition data and provide clear, actionable recommendations to improve reliability and reduce unplanned downtime. Lead troubleshooting and failure investigations for critical and recurring equipment issues. Support the implementation and optimization of PdM programs, including routes, databases, alarm settings, sensor health, reporting standards, and online monitoring systems. Apply reliability methodologies such as RCM, RCFA, FMEA, asset criticality, and bad-actor analysis. Monitor program performance through reliability KPIs, cost avoidance, asset health indicators, and improvement action plans. Develop and present technical reports, customer reviews, and reliability improvement recommendations. Train and mentor engineers, analysts, technicians, and customer personnel on reliability and condition monitoring best practices. Support contract start-ups, reliability assessments, technical proposals, and customer improvement initiatives. Standardize technical processes, analytical methods, and reporting practices across customer contracts. Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Project Management, and commercial teams to align reliability priorities and deliver measurable results. Travel to customer sites throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico to perform assessments, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and program implementation. Perform QA/QC of maintenance execution and contractor activities, validating precision maintenance practices, adherence to technical standards, and quality of completed work. Level of Education & Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, reliability engineering, predictive maintenance, or condition monitoring. ISO 18436-2 Category III Vibration Analyst certification. Strong practical knowledge of rotating equipment, mechanical failure modes, machine dynamics, and equipment troubleshooting. Advanced knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies, including vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound, motion amplification, motor testing, and lubrication/oil analysis. Experience developing, implementing, and optimizing predictive maintenance and asset health programs. Working knowledge of reliability methodologies such as RCM, RCFA, FMEA, asset criticality, bad-actor analysis, and maintenance strategy optimization. Experience with online condition monitoring systems, vibration databases, route development, alarm configuration, data integrity, and diagnostic software. Working knowledge of CMMS platforms such as SAP PM, IBM Maximo, or JD Edwards. Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, maintenance history, inspection findings, and failure reports. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to technicians, engineers, maintenance leadership, and executive stakeholders. Ability to work independently, manage multiple customer priorities, and provide technical leadership across geographically dispersed sites. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and reporting or data-visualization tools. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Experience & Technical Skills: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Reliability Engineering, Predictive Maintenance, Condition Monitoring, or Industrial Maintenance within heavy industrial environments. Demonstrated experience implementing and optimizing Predictive Maintenance (PdM) and Asset Health programs across multiple facilities. Extensive hands-on experience diagnosing complex rotating equipment using vibration analysis and complementary predictive maintenance technologies. Experience leading Reliability Assessments and implementing reliability improvement initiatives using methodologies such as RCM, RCFA, FMEA, and asset criticality analysis. Proven experience performing equipment troubleshooting, failure investigations, and developing corrective action recommendations for critical assets. Experience developing technical reports and presenting findings and recommendations to customers, plant leadership, and executive stakeholders. Experience mentoring engineers, analysts, and maintenance personnel while serving as a technical subject matter expert. Experience working with CMMS platforms (SAP PM, IBM Maximo, JD Edwards, or equivalent) and condition monitoring software. Experience supporting customer projects in heavy industrial environments with a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.Solid understanding of mechanical behavior of rotating assets and related failure mechanisms. Participate in weekend duty rotation with the vibration team, providing remote or on-site support as needed to assist in urgent equipment evaluations or abnormal vibration events. Physical and Mental Qualifications Physical condition for field inspection in Pulp and Paper Mills Communication: ability to express themselves with correctness, certainty, and objectivity, transmitting security and confidence. Emotional stability: the ability to present a calm and balanced temperament, with self-control of his actions. Travel percentage Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Valid passport with the ability to obtain and maintain authorization for international business travel. Must be legally admissible to enter and work in the United States, Canada, and Mexico for business travel purposes. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
