Remote | Audio Engineer (German) — Up to $45/hour

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced audio engineers with strong expertise editing and quality-checking German-language speech recordings for text-to-speech, speech AI, and machine learning applications. This role focuses on preparing high-quality German speech datasets for advanced AI systems. Selected professionals will edit and restore voice recordings, perform detailed technical quality assurance, evaluate pronunciation and naturalness, and ensure large volumes of audio meet consistent production and machine learning specifications. Key Responsibilities Speech Audio Editing Edit and process German-language voice recordings for speech and TTS applications Perform silence trimming, breath reduction or removal, de-clicking, de-essing, and noise reduction Correct technical defects while preserving natural speech characteristics Prepare clean, consistent recordings suitable for machine learning pipelines Work efficiently across large batches of speech audio Audio Quality Assurance Review recordings for clipping, distortion, background noise, and unwanted artefacts Assess loudness consistency and level balance across recordings Identify recording inconsistencies and technical defects Ensure audio conforms to defined technical and production specifications Maintain consistent quality standards across high-volume datasets German Speech Evaluation Evaluate pronunciation, fluency, naturalness, and overall speech quality in German Identify unnatural pronunciation, articulation, pacing, or delivery Apply native or near-native listening judgment to German speech nuances Distinguish linguistic or performance issues from technical audio defects Assess recordings for suitability within speech and TTS training workflows Dataset & Production Workflow Work with structured speech datasets and large recording batches Maintain accuracy and throughput across repetitive, high-precision tasks Collaborate with teams working on voice talent recordings and speech-model training Follow established audio QA, file-management, and evaluation processes Provide clear technical feedback on recordings requiring correction or replacement Ideal Profile Strong candidates may have: Native or near-native German fluency Professional experience editing speech, dialogue, narration, or voice recordings Strong critical listening skills for German-language speech Practical knowledge of speech audio quality standards Experience identifying and correcting noise, clipping, distortion, clicks, sibilance, and related defects Hands-on experience with professional audio restoration or editing software Experience working with high-volume audio datasets or structured production workflows Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality at scale Educational Background Training in audio engineering, sound engineering, audio production, broadcast production, or a related discipline may be helpful Equivalent professional experience in speech editing, dialogue production, or audio post-production may also be considered Practical speech-audio editing expertise is particularly valuable for this engagement Nice to Have Experience with iZotope RX, Pro Tools, or comparable audio restoration software Previous work with text-to-speech platforms or vendors Experience with speech ML, voice AI, or synthetic speech projects Familiarity with audio annotation or QA pipelines Experience preparing datasets for machine learning applications Background directing or editing German voice talent Knowledge of dialogue restoration and speech-specific post-production Experience assessing differences between natural and synthetic speech Why This Opportunity Apply professional audio engineering expertise to advanced speech AI development Work specifically with German-language voice recordings Contribute to high-quality datasets used in text-to-speech and speech-model workflows Combine technical audio restoration with critical linguistic listening Work across large-scale, structured production environments Participate in flexible remote consulting work Contract Details Independent contractor role Fully remote with flexible scheduling Compensation of up to $45 per hour depending on expertise and project scope Native or near-native German fluency is required Professional experience editing speech or voice recordings is required Work may include speech editing, audio restoration, technical QA, pronunciation evaluation, dataset review, and quality control Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise Projects may be extended, shortened, or adjusted depending on scope and performance Work will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution About the Platform This opportunity is available through 24-MAG LLC.
