Remote | Belgian Dutch STEM Expert (PhD) — $50–$55/hour

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for PhD-level STEM experts based in Belgium with native or near-native Belgian Dutch fluency and advanced scientific expertise across chemistry, biology, or closely related disciplines. This role focuses on applying scientific expertise and bilingual language skills to evaluate specialised technical content in Dutch as spoken in Belgium. Selected experts will develop advanced scientific prompts, assess technical responses for accuracy and quality, and apply structured evaluation standards to sensitive and dual-use scientific subject matter. Prior AI or machine-learning experience is not required. Key Responsibilities Scientific Content Development Write expert-level scientific prompts in Belgian Dutch Develop technically rigorous content across specialised STEM subject areas Apply advanced subject-matter knowledge to realistic scientific scenarios Ensure scientific terminology and concepts are accurate and appropriately framed Produce content suitable for expert-level technical evaluation Scientific Accuracy Review Evaluate technical responses for scientific accuracy, relevance, and helpfulness Identify incorrect assumptions, terminology, mechanisms, or conclusions Assess whether scientific reasoning is technically sound Distinguish substantive scientific errors from minor presentation issues Apply professional research judgement when reviewing complex material Technical Evaluation & Annotation Review and annotate scientific responses against structured criteria Classify prompts and conversations consistently Assess responses across specialised technical subject matter Identify nuanced issues requiring expert scientific judgement Provide concise written explanations supporting evaluation decisions Scientific Safety & Dual-Use Review Evaluate scientific content involving potentially sensitive or dual-use information Apply structured guidelines to scientific safety considerations Exercise sound judgement across chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear subject matter where relevant to your expertise Identify cases requiring additional contextual or safety evaluation Document the reasoning behind scientific safety judgements clearly Laboratory & Computational Expertise Apply knowledge of modern laboratory and computational techniques within your specialist field Evaluate whether scientific methods reflect contemporary research practice Review experimental assumptions and technical workflows Assess methodology, terminology, and scientific reasoning Apply deep specialist knowledge within your particular scientific discipline Belgian Dutch Language Review Produce technically accurate and natural Dutch-language scientific content appropriate to Belgian Dutch usage Evaluate specialist terminology for linguistic and scientific precision Identify wording that changes or obscures technical meaning Apply native or near-native linguistic and cultural judgement Communicate clearly in written English when documenting evaluation decisions Ideal Profile PhD completed or currently in progress in chemistry, biology, or a closely related STEM discipline Native or near-native fluency in Dutch as spoken in Belgium Business-level written English Currently based in Belgium Deep expertise within a specific scientific subfield Strong familiarity with modern laboratory and/or computational techniques Relevant areas of expertise may include: Organic or inorganic chemistry Molecular biology Microbiology Virology Genetics Radiochemistry Nuclear chemistry Radiation physics Energetic materials Strong scientific reasoning and attention to technical detail Sound judgement regarding scientific safety and responsible treatment of dual-use information Research or coursework involving chemical safety and security, biosafety, biosecurity, or hazardous-materials handling is advantageous Experience reviewing, grading, evaluating, or red-teaming technical content is advantageous Prior AI or machine-learning experience is not required Engagement Details Part-time independent contractor engagement Fully remote within Belgium Flexible scheduling based on project requirements Compensation: $50–$55/hour Immediate start This opportunity specifically requires expertise in the Belgian variety of Dutch Training on the project workflow is provided Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party H1-B and STEM OPT support is unavailable for this engagement About the Platform This opportunity is available through 24-MAG LLC.
