Development Project Manager / Development Engineer

Location: U.S.-based; semi-remote, with Minneapolis location highly preferred

Salary: Dependent on experience

Athena is a consulting company operating in the power generation, transmission and distribution industry. We are developing power-generation projects across the Upper Midwest, Texas/Amarillo, and Denver specifically within combustion turbine and combined-cycle power plants, with a goal in expanding in longer-term carbon-reduction technologies. We are looking to strengthen both our project-management and technical-engineering capacity during early-stage development.

This role supports early-stage power-generation development projects, with a focus on combustion turbine and combined-cycle facilities. Projects span the entire US.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate stakeholder discussions across environmental, technical, siting, land-rights, and operational topics
  • Manage and document meetings, decisions, action items, project information, schedules, and costs
  • Coordinate with EPC partners on early estimates, project progress, and required information
  • Partner with development managers, operations, execution teams, and external vendors
  • Support projects within a designated region
Engineering
  • Provide technical support and help project teams navigate technical decisions
  • Research and coordinate technical data, specifications, standards, OEM information, and plant-layout requirements
  • Work with EPC contractors, OEMs, internal partners, and execution teams
  • Coordinate technical information across projects.
RequirementsRequired Background
  • Bachelors in Engineering or similar, required for engineering related activities. Project management experience may replace the need for an engineering degree.
  • 5–15 years of relevant experience preferred; minimum 3 years considered
  • Experience in power-plant development, system design, or power-plant engineering
  • Combustion turbine experience required
  • Combined-cycle experience strongly preferred
  • Early-stage development, consulting, construction-related, or project engineering experience is highly desirable
  • Strong organization, communication, meeting-management, documentation, and project coordination skills
  • Working knowledge of project schedules, cost tracking, technical specifications, and stakeholder management
Work Schedule & Travel
  • Semi-remote: approximately 4–7 days per month in Minneapolis
  • Initial onboarding may require more in-person time during the first 1–2 months
  • Work must be performed from within the United States
