We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for electrical engineering professionals with deep expertise in RF and microwave systems, circuit simulation, computational modelling, and scientific software. This role supports the development of advanced AI benchmarks for research-level scientific and engineering problem solving. Selected experts will design original computational problems that require AI systems to use specialised engineering tools, run simulations, interpret results, recover hidden parameters, and reason through complex multi-step workflows. Key Responsibilities RF & Microwave Engineering Develop challenging computational problems involving RF and microwave network analysis Create tasks using S-parameters, transmission-line models, impedance behaviour, and network characterisation Apply tools such as scikit-rf or comparable RF engineering software Design problems that require interpretation of simulated or measured RF data Develop scenarios involving parameter recovery and inverse-analysis workflows Circuit Simulation & Analysis Create expert-level circuit problems using ngspice or comparable circuit-simulation environments Develop tasks involving operating-point analysis, frequency response, transient behaviour, and circuit characterisation Design scenarios requiring recovery of circuit parameters from measurement or simulation outputs Evaluate circuit behaviour across complex multi-stage workflows Produce reference solutions grounded in sound electrical engineering principles Scientific Problem & Benchmark Design Design original graduate-level problems based on realistic computational engineering workflows Create tasks requiring multi-step reasoning rather than straightforward calculation Develop both fully specified computational problems and information-recovery challenges Construct scenarios in which systems must strategically determine what to simulate, measure, or query Ensure problems reward careful reasoning rather than surface-level pattern matching Simulation Validation & Difficulty Calibration Test problem designs against advanced AI systems Analyse model performance and identify where tasks are too easy, too ambiguous, or insufficiently rigorous Refine scenarios iteratively until they reach the intended technical difficulty Develop oracle functions, validators, and reference solutions for computational tasks Confirm that problem setups are reproducible and technically well defined Python & Scientific Computing Write Python code supporting simulation setups, validation logic, and problem-generation workflows Work with scientific libraries and engineering software in Linux and terminal-based environments Build reproducible computational workflows suitable for remote execution Diagnose software limitations, numerical edge cases, and modelling assumptions Apply strong engineering judgement when interpreting computational results Ideal Profile Graduate-level expertise in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Microwave Engineering, Circuit Design, or a closely related STEM discipline MS, PhD, or equivalent substantial research experience Strong hands-on experience with RF, microwave, circuit simulation, or computational electrical engineering Proven proficiency with scikit-rf, ngspice, or comparable specialised scientific software Experience using engineering software in research, professional development, publications, or open-source projects Strong Python programming skills Deep understanding of S-parameters, RF network analysis, circuit behaviour, and simulation methodology Ability to design technically challenging problems involving inverse analysis or parameter recovery Comfortable working in Linux, terminal environments, and remote compute sandboxes Strong understanding of numerical limitations, modelling assumptions, and scientific-software edge cases Experience with benchmark design, scientific education, examination development, or problem-set creation is advantageous Familiarity with computational reproducibility or containerised environments is highly valued Engagement Details Part-time independent contractor engagement Fully remote Minimum availability of approximately 15–20 hours per week Flexible scheduling based on project requirements Compensation: $60–$75/hour Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party H1-B and STEM OPT support is unavailable for this engagement About the Platform This opportunity is available through 24-MAG LLC.
