Remote | Semiconductor Process Engineer (ALD) — Up to $80/hour

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced semiconductor and materials professionals with hands-on expertise in Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), thin-film processing, precursor chemistry, and materials characterisation. This long-term role supports an advanced AI research initiative focused on semiconductor manufacturing and the physical sciences. Selected professionals will apply deep ALD expertise to develop technical training data, evaluate scientific reasoning, create expert-level problems, and improve how advanced AI systems understand deposition processes, materials behaviour, and semiconductor fabrication. Key Responsibilities ALD Process & Thin-Film Expertise Apply hands-on expertise in Atomic Layer Deposition process development, optimisation, and troubleshooting Analyse deposition parameters, process windows, film properties, and surface-reaction behaviour Work with thin-film processes relevant to semiconductor and advanced-packaging applications Evaluate technical trade-offs involving deposition conditions, materials selection, and process performance Contribute accurate domain knowledge grounded in real laboratory or production experience Precursor Chemistry & Materials Analysis Apply knowledge of precursor chemistry and surface reaction mechanisms Evaluate chemical and physical factors affecting ALD growth and film quality Interpret materials characterisation data using techniques such as XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, and ellipsometry Assess film composition, morphology, thickness, uniformity, interfaces, and related material properties Identify technically incorrect assumptions or conclusions in scientific analyses Scientific Problem Development & AI Evaluation Design and solve challenging expert-level problems involving ALD and semiconductor processing Review AI-generated scientific reasoning for technical accuracy and completeness Identify errors in deposition physics, chemistry, process design, and materials analysis Rate and rank model outputs using defined scientific criteria Provide clear written reasoning supporting evaluation decisions Technical Data Development Structure process parameters, deposition recipes, characterisation results, and scientific knowledge into organised technical data Develop high-quality reference material for model training and evaluation Ensure technical information is accurate, internally consistent, and clearly documented Translate specialised semiconductor-process expertise into precise written explanations Deliver reliable work according to defined project timelines and quality standards Ideal Profile Strong candidates may have: Hands-on experience developing, optimising, or troubleshooting ALD processes Deep knowledge of thin-film deposition for semiconductor or advanced-packaging applications Strong understanding of precursor chemistry and surface reaction mechanisms Experience interpreting thin-film and materials characterisation results Familiarity with XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, ellipsometry, or comparable characterisation techniques Practical understanding of semiconductor processing and materials integration Strong scientific reasoning and problem-solving skills Clear written English and the ability to explain complex technical decisions precisely Availability for at least 10 hours per week Current residence in the United States Educational Background An MS or PhD in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, or a closely related discipline is highly relevant Equivalent advanced hands-on professional experience in ALD, semiconductor processing, or thin-film engineering may also be considered Research or industry experience involving deposition processes and semiconductor materials is particularly valuable Nice to Have Semiconductor process-development experience Advanced-packaging or semiconductor manufacturing experience Experience developing new ALD precursors or process chemistries Background in surface science or thin-film growth mechanisms Experience correlating process parameters with materials-characterisation results Familiarity with process integration and manufacturing-scale deposition Experience authoring technical training materials or scientific evaluation tasks Prior experience with AI evaluation, scientific annotation, or structured technical review Why This Opportunity Apply specialised ALD expertise to advanced semiconductor AI research Work with realistic deposition, materials, and process-development problems Help improve scientific reasoning across semiconductor and physical-science applications Create and evaluate technically demanding expert-level content Participate in a long-term remote engagement with flexible weekly hours Contribute between approximately 10 and 40 hours per week depending on availability and project needs Contract Details Independent contractor role Fully remote within the United States Long-term, ongoing engagement Minimum commitment of approximately 10 hours per week Potential workload of up to approximately 40 hours per week Compensation of up to $80 per hour depending on expertise and project scope Work may include ALD process analysis, scientific problem development, AI output evaluation, technical data structuring, and materials review Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise Projects may be extended, shortened, or adjusted depending on scope and performance Work will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution About the Platform This opportunity is available through 24-MAG LLC.
