About Gate
Founded in 2013, Gate is one of the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges. We operate remote-first across multiple time zones, with a culture built around ownership, speed and direct communication.
Why This Role Exists
Gate’s Global Partnerships team works across three broad areas:
- CEX asset listings
- Web3 and Earn product partnerships, including DeFi, DEX, wallets and blockchain infrastructure
- TradFi and tokenised-finance partnerships, including brokers, market makers, liquidity providers, stablecoins and RWAs
As the range of opportunities grows, we need someone who can help the team decide what is worth pursuing, how it should be structured and how to make those decisions consistently.
This is not a pure desk-research role, and it is not limited to asset listings. You will stay close to fast-moving crypto markets, pressure-test companies and opportunities, compare commercial terms, and turn scattered information into a clear recommendation. You will also help build the frameworks, SOPs and internal systems that make the entire partnerships team more effective.
You will work closely with senior partnerships leads and receive active mentoring, but you will still be expected to take ownership of your work and develop an independent point of view.
What You’ll Own
- Track market developments, competitor activity and emerging opportunities across CEX listings, Web3/Earn products and TradFi partnerships
- Translate management direction into category strategies, market maps and actionable priorities, including where Gate should enter, follow, differentiate or pass
- Evaluate prospective assets and partners across team quality, investors, product, adoption, token or business economics, market and on-chain data, reputation and key risks
- Follow relevant projects and ecosystems closely enough to identify important shifts early—not only after they become obvious from public headlines
- Research comparable partnerships and benchmark commercial structures, including pricing, fees, revenue sharing, incentives, liquidity commitments and other key terms
- Turn research into a concise recommendation: pursue, deprioritise or pass; why; the proposed approach; and the next action required
- Help design and maintain opportunity-assessment frameworks, decision criteria, scoring models and pipeline-prioritisation methods
- Build and improve SOPs and templates covering opportunity intake, due diligence, internal approvals, handover, execution tracking and post-deal review
- Maintain structured internal knowledge covering partner profiles, competitor activity, comparable terms, previous decisions and lessons from completed deals
- Support partnership strategy, negotiation preparation and concise updates for the team and senior management
- Review the results of past decisions and use what happened afterwards to improve the team’s frameworks and judgment over time
Who We’re Looking For
- Typically 2–4 years of experience in strategy, consulting, investment banking, venture capital or digital-asset research. Exceptional earlier-career candidates will also be considered
- Fluent English communication with strong commercial writing ability. Strong Chinese proficiency is a major asset
- Strong analytical and commercial judgment—you can form a view, explain the reasoning and recommend what should happen next, rather than simply summarising information
- Genuine hands-on interest in crypto markets. You follow projects and market activity closely and can speak credibly about recent developments across CEX, on-chain, DeFi, DEX, wallets or Earn products
- Structured thinking and an interest in turning messy work into clear frameworks, SOPs and repeatable processes. Prior experience doing this is useful, but we are also open to someone who can grow into it with mentoring
- Comfortable comparing commercial terms and understanding the incentives of different parties in a deal
- Curious and adaptable enough to work across both crypto-native and TradFi opportunities rather than staying within one narrow sector
- Able to manage several workstreams, move quickly and take ownership in a remote-first environment
Nice to Have
- Experience with an exchange, trading platform, fund, research firm, fintech company or fast-moving crypto product team
- Exposure to asset listings, brokers, market makers, stablecoins, tokenisation, RWAs, DeFi, wallets, Earn products or blockchain infrastructure
- Experience building dashboards, databases, research tools or lightweight automations, including effective use of AI tools to accelerate analysis
- Experience analysing partnership economics, transaction structures or comparable commercial terms
Why This Role Is Worth Your Time
Your work will feed directly into live partnership decisions across crypto and traditional finance. You will not just produce reports—you will help decide which opportunities Gate pursues, how deals are structured and how the team operates.
For someone earlier in their career, this is a chance to get unusually broad exposure to listings, Web3 products and TradFi partnerships while working closely with experienced deal leads. You will build a visible track record of decisions, frameworks and commercial outcomes, with room to take on substantially more ownership as you grow.
