We're Hiring: Resource Recovery Manager

Location: United Arab Emirates (Remote)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience Level: Mid-Level to Senior

Work Arrangement: Fully Remote

About Us

We are a globally focused organization committed to advancing sustainable resource management, circular-economy practices, waste reduction, material recovery, and environmentally responsible operations across diverse markets.

Our teams work across Operations, Engineering, Environmental Services, Facilities, Procurement, Commercial, Sustainability, Finance, Technology, and external service providers to improve resource efficiency and maximize the recovery of valuable materials from waste streams.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Resource Recovery Manager to lead resource recovery programs covering waste minimization, material recovery, recycling, reuse, energy recovery, circular-economy initiatives, recovery facilities, and sustainable resource management.

The ideal candidate will combine operational, technical, commercial, environmental, and strategic capabilities to improve recovery rates, reduce disposal costs, increase resource value, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver measurable sustainability outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement resource recovery strategies aligned with organizational sustainability and operational objectives.
  • Manage programs for waste reduction, reuse, recycling, material recovery, and resource optimization.
  • Identify opportunities to recover valuable materials from municipal, commercial, industrial, construction, and other waste streams.
  • Evaluate waste streams, material composition, recovery potential, operational constraints, and market opportunities.
  • Establish recovery targets, operating standards, performance requirements, and continuous-improvement programs.
  • Manage resource recovery facilities, processing operations, transfer activities, sorting systems, and associated infrastructure where applicable.
  • Coordinate material sorting, segregation, processing, recovery, storage, and outbound logistics.
  • Optimize recovery processes to improve material yield, quality, throughput, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop procedures for source segregation, collection, handling, processing, and recovery of recyclable and reusable materials.
  • Identify opportunities for reuse, remanufacturing, refurbishment, repurposing, and secondary-material utilization.
  • Evaluate technologies for mechanical sorting, material recovery, organic waste processing, energy recovery, and other resource-recovery applications.
  • Support feasibility studies, business cases, technical assessments, and investment proposals for recovery projects.
  • Manage recovery-related contractors, operators, technology providers, recyclers, processors, and downstream partners.
  • Establish supplier and recovery-partner requirements covering quality, capacity, pricing, compliance, service levels, and reporting.
  • Monitor recovered-material markets, commodity trends, customer requirements, and downstream demand.
  • Develop commercial strategies to maximize the value of recovered materials and secondary resources.
  • Negotiate and manage agreements for recovered-material sales, recycling services, processing, transportation, and disposal.
  • Ensure recovered materials meet applicable quality specifications and customer requirements.
  • Track material flows from collection through processing, recovery, sale, reuse, or final disposal.
  • Develop mass-balance and material-flow systems to measure recovery performance and identify losses.
  • Establish controls to minimize contamination, rejected loads, material losses, and unnecessary disposal.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, waste-management, health and safety, and resource-recovery regulations.
  • Maintain required permits, licenses, operating records, inspections, and regulatory documentation.
  • Conduct environmental and operational audits of recovery activities and facilities.
  • Identify and mitigate environmental risks associated with waste handling, storage, processing, and transportation.
  • Implement measures to control spills, odors, dust, emissions, runoff, contamination, and other environmental impacts.
  • Develop emergency-response and incident-management procedures for resource-recovery operations.
  • Coordinate with Environmental, Health and Safety teams to maintain safe working practices.
  • Establish workforce training programs covering material handling, segregation, equipment operation, environmental controls, and safety.
  • Manage resource-recovery budgets, operating costs, capital requirements, and financial performance.
  • Monitor labor, transportation, processing, disposal, maintenance, and equipment costs.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce landfill dependency and disposal expenses.
  • Develop and maintain performance dashboards covering recovery rates, material volumes, revenue, costs, contamination, and environmental performance.
  • Use operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support implementation of digital platforms for waste tracking, material-flow management, reporting, and operational analytics.
  • Develop sustainability metrics for circularity, diversion, recycling, reuse, and resource efficiency.
  • Quantify environmental benefits such as landfill diversion, resource conservation, emissions reduction, and avoided disposal.
  • Collaborate with Sustainability teams on circular-economy, carbon-reduction, and resource-efficiency initiatives.
  • Work with Procurement and Operations to increase the use of recycled and recovered materials where commercially and technically appropriate.
  • Engage customers, regulators, communities, suppliers, and other stakeholders on resource-recovery initiatives.
  • Prepare management reports covering operational performance, financial results, compliance, risks, and sustainability outcomes.
