Position Overview: The Respite Specialist provides short-term, supportive care to individuals (children and/or adults) with developmental disabilities or mental health needs, allowing their primary caregivers time to rest, attend to personal matters, or handle emergencies. This role plays a critical part in reducing caregiver stress and enhancing the overall well-being of the families we serve. Key Responsibilities: Provide safe, attentive, and compassionate care to individuals in their home or community-based settings Support clients with daily activities, including meals, hygiene, mobility, and recreational engagement Follow care plans and safety protocols as directed Maintain accurate documentation of services provided Communicate effectively with caregivers, team members, and supervisors Respond appropriately to the emotional and behavioral needs of the individual Participate in required training and supervision Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs preferred Must be at least 18 years old Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if travel is required) Ability to pass background checks and required training Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Preferred Skills: CPR/First Aid certification Familiarity with HIPAA and client rights Training in behavioral interventions or de-escalation techniques (preferred but not required) Why Join Us?
