Retirement Analyst I Penn Center - Denver, CO 80203 Apply Overview Salary Range $29.33 - $33.66 Hourly Position Type Full Time Category Finance Apply RETIREMENT ANALYST I Summary of Job Responsibilities PERA’s Member Services Division provides the administration and related member services of PERA’s defined benefit program. The Retirement Analyst position works directly with PERA’s vast and diverse member population, affiliated employers, and stakeholders via detailed account operations and complex member transactions. Responsibilities include verifying, calculating, and auditing member account information for processing benefits according to legal and regulatory compliance standards. Ideal Candidate Statement The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of work while maintaining efficiency. They are self-motivated and demonstrate initiative in completing work and solving problems. This analyst has a mathematical aptitude, uses sound judgement in decision making, and takes pride in consistently meeting deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality in their work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Employees are held accountable for all duties of the job. Individuals must be able to perform these duties with or without reasonable accommodations. Evaluates and executes various complex calculations, such as service credit evaluations, monthly benefit payments, service credit purchase agreements, benefit adjustments, benefit estimates, disability, survivor, divorce (DRO), and Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) Determines benefit program eligibility based on member data driven decision making and ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory frameworks governing PERA Utilizes analytical reasoning skills such as assessment, decision making, and problem solving in day-to-day operations and proactive research methods to assist with and prepare for member and interdepartmental interactions Consistently manages and prioritizes workload to meet deadlines while ensuring a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all deliverables Prepares comprehensive reports and presents account information in a clear, organized, and meaningful manner to support informed decision making for PERA members May be assigned to a process team in a specialty area such as disability, survivor benefits, divorce (DRO), or Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) Demonstrates the ability to communicate sensitive and detailed information with professionalism, empathy, and subject matter expertise Accurately and professionally conveys information about PERA’s benefit plans, insurance programs, retirement readiness, and financial security by adapting to the individual and situational needs of members from diverse social, economic, and educational backgrounds Researches and resolves escalated member account issues while adhering to federal and/or state statute, PERA Rules, and internal procedures and/or escalates to their manager as appropriate Engages in continuous training and educational opportunities for ongoing professional development and enhanced personal skills Responsible for accurate data entry, information retrieval, and professional outgoing correspondence Provides expertise for intricate or escalated issues that arise from member inquiries from customer service center Drives member engagement by delivering an exceptional and personalized member service experience through one-on-one counseling sessions and timely delivery of all member requested transactions Consistently achieves or exceeds defined performance benchmarks, and division-level service metrics as set forth by management Operates with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability to meet assigned deadlines and expectations Demonstrates dependability by maintaining regular and prompt attendance in the workplace Embraces a growth mindset by taking on projects, cross-functional initiatives, and other duties as assigned to support organizational goals Visibly supports management decisions and change efforts among teammates, other divisions, members, employers, and other stakeholders Performs other duties as assigned Job Qualifications A combination of education and experience equivalent to 2 years of administrative, benefits, financial, customer service, and/or office experience Bachelor’s degree preferred. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills Ability to work independently and within a team environment with minimal supervision Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to deal with sensitive and/or confidential information and situations Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy Proficiency with Microsoft Office software Working Conditions The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
