Job Title: Senior RF Electrical Engineer Job Description The Senior RF Electrical Engineer serves as the lead subject matter expert for RF and electrical engineering, responsible for the design, development, integration, and validation of RF-based systems and supporting electronic hardware. This highly hands-on role focuses on RF circuit design, system-level electrical testing, test plan development, troubleshooting, and product validation. The engineer collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure products meet performance, reliability, and customer requirements throughout the product lifecycle and contributes technical leadership on complex, mission-critical applications. Responsibilities Lead the design and development of RF and electrical systems, including RF circuits, signal paths, antennas, filters, amplifiers, power distribution, and supporting electronic hardware. Perform RF analysis, simulation, and design verification to ensure system performance, signal integrity, and compliance with customer requirements. Develop and execute comprehensive electrical and RF test plans, including design validation testing (DVT), qualification testing, and factory acceptance testing (FAT). Create detailed test procedures, test reports, acceptance criteria, and validation documentation for RF and electrical test activities. Configure, operate, and validate RF and electrical test equipment including vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power meters, and related RF test instruments. Perform hands-on electrical and RF troubleshooting to identify root causes of failures and implement effective corrective actions. Support integration, verification, and characterization of RF subsystems and communication interfaces within larger systems. Analyze RF performance metrics such as gain, insertion loss, return loss, VSWR, noise figure, isolation, and overall signal quality. Develop and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, test procedures, reports, requirements matrices, and technical analyses. Review customer specifications and system requirements to determine technical feasibility and define appropriate validation and test approaches. Collaborate closely with mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to ensure successful product development, qualification, and deployment. Support prototype builds, product qualification efforts, and manufacturing troubleshooting activities for RF and electrical hardware. Drive continuous improvement of testing methodologies, validation processes, and overall product performance. Provide technical leadership during design reviews, customer technical discussions, and program execution. Contribute to the design and validation of custom-engineered RF rotary joints, waveguide-based components, and signal transmission systems used in radar, satellite, aerospace, defense, and related applications. Essential Skills 10+ years of RF and electrical engineering experience. Strong background in RF design and RF system development. Proven experience developing and executing electrical and RF test plans, verification plans, and qualification testing. Hands-on experience troubleshooting RF and electrical systems and resolving complex technical issues. Proficiency with RF test equipment including vector network analyzers (VNA), spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and power meters. Experience evaluating RF performance parameters including gain, return loss, insertion loss, VSWR, noise figure, and isolation. Ability to lead technical efforts and serve as a subject matter expert in RF and electrical engineering. Strong documentation skills for creating clear test procedures, reports, and validation records. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications PCB design and layout experience. Experience in aerospace, defense, telecommunications, or other regulated industries. Knowledge of EMC/EMI testing and compliance requirements. Antenna design or antenna testing experience. Familiarity with RF simulation tools such as ADS, HFSS, CST, or similar platforms. Experience supporting environmental and qualification testing for RF and electronic systems. Active or previous security clearance. Strong understanding of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design. Experience with communication interfaces such as Ethernet, RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485. Ability to generate detailed test reports, validation documentation, and engineering analyses. Experience supporting product verification, integration, and root cause investigations. Interest in working on mission-critical aerospace and defense technologies, including RF rotary joints, waveguide switches, slip rings, and integrated rotating systems. Motivation to work in a strong RF engineering environment where RF technology is a core competency. Desire to tackle high technical complexity and custom-engineered products that require creativity and systems thinking. Comfort with having significant ownership over designs, troubleshooting, validation efforts, and customer-facing technical discussions. Work Environment The role is based in a lab and manufacturing environment focused on mission-critical aerospace, defense, radar, satellite, and naval applications. Engineers work closely with RF rotary joints, waveguide technologies, signal transmission systems, and advanced electrical testing and validation equipment. The setting offers hands-on access to test labs, production areas, and prototype builds, providing high visibility and ownership over designs and validation efforts. The culture emphasizes technical depth in RF engineering, collaboration across mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and program teams, and continuous improvement in testing methodologies and product performance.
