In this role, you will: This is a broad, hands-on second line Risk Manager role, responsible for supporting, advising and challenging colleagues across the Bank on the identification, assessment, management and reporting of risk across all relevant risk types. The role holder will work closely with business areas and the wider second line team to promote, embed and maintain the Bank’s Risk Management Framework, strengthen risk culture and support effective governance and oversight. The role requires, as a broad risk role an individual who can provide practical risk input, independent guidance and constructive challenge across risk and governance matters while helping the business understand, own and manage its risks effectively. Key areas of responsibility: · Perform all activities as delegated by the Head of Risk. · Act as a trusted Risk Business Partner to allocated business areas, providing proportionate advice, support and constructive challenge on risk matters. · Capture and assess risk events, working with the business to agree root cause, remedial actions, ownership, timelines and any wider implications. · Support new initiatives projects and change activity by helping identify, assess, monitoring, and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle. · Lead and support the development of risk management capabilities across the business (e.g. risk appetite, policies, framework, processes, RCSAs, risk event reporting, scenario analysis, MI, etc.) · Provide Line 2 advice & challenge to all business areas in relation to risk management. · Lead operational scenario analysis to support capital assessments. · Assist the Risk Team in developing and implementing standards and policies in line with the Group’s Risk Management Framework. · Build effective relationships across the business and assist in shaping and raising the profile of Risk, promote leading practices and continuous improvement. · Identify risks, assess the effectiveness of control design and operation, and ensure that any control gaps are tracked, owned and remediated within agreed timescales. · Conduct reviews and challenge of departmental process level risk assessments. · Support the Risk team in embedding reporting of risk events and maintenance of the risk register. · Provide ongoing risk input and support for projects. · Maintain awareness of key business activities and emerging risks, identifying areas where further second line of oversight / activity may be required. · Preparing and delivering risk reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies that meet regulatory expectations and internal standards. · Manage the preparation of management information and regular reporting for committees i.e. Executive Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee. · Lead the delivery of risk-based monitoring reviews across a range of areas. · Embed a methodology for ongoing monitoring reviews, including planning, testing, and reporting phases. · Attend risk and governance committees as required. Maintain all systems-based records in an accurate and timely manner. A bit about you – You are/have: · Detail oriented and focused with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and stakeholders. · Relevant experience within a financial services environment and Risk function. However, experience in Internal Audit or Compliance roles would be considered. · Strong technical knowledge of risk and control frameworks. · Strong skills around planning, organisation, and prioritisation. · Resilient and an ability to adapt and work in an environment of change and ambiguity. · Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). · Effective communication and presentation skills. · Strong attention to detail is essential. · Excited by the opportunity to work in a start-up bank with a real purpose. · High energy, enthusiastic and can-do mindset. · Clear communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills. · Exceptional problems solving skills. · Confident, articulate self-starter.
