This role supports that commitment by helping to maintain, apply and improve safeguarding arrangements in line with contractual obligations, legislation, internal policy and clinical governance expectations. The Safeguarding Specialist will lead and co-ordinate initiatives that strengthen safeguarding practice and customer care. Working primarily with colleagues on the Health Assessment Advisory Service contract, the role will focus on maintaining and improving application of the safeguarding policy, mitigating safeguarding risks, and supporting regulatory and contractual compliance. The role will also support wider Ingeus safeguarding activity where required. The role is centred around ensuring the organisation meets the highest standard of care in relation to safeguarding. The postholder will be expected to deliver clear safeguarding oversight, timely escalation of concerns, accurate reporting of themes and risks, and practical support for colleagues so that safeguarding practice is consistent, responsive and aligned with Ingeus requirements. The role is open to professionally registered clinicians, although professional registration or a clinical background is not essential. Applications are welcomed from both clinical and non-clinical candidates. Accountabilities: Promote an environment and culture of transparency and accountability to reduce risk and foster a culture of safety in relation to safeguarding and customer care. Work across Ingeus to promote continuous improvement, develop safeguarding initiatives and support consistent implementation of agreed actions. Work with Ingeus Safeguarding Leads to maintain oversight of safeguarding referrals and provide relevant input to support customers. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the efficient and safe transition of customer concerns/referrals. Ensure compliance with internal and DWP safeguarding standards. Record, track and monitor safeguarding data, undertake trend analysis and identify opportunities for learning and development. Provide regular reporting to the Clinical Governance Lead, Head of Clinical Standards, Head of Risk and Compliance, and other key stakeholders as required. Attend relevant meetings, cascade key meeting notes and implement agreed actions, including actions from the Ingeus Safeguarding Forum and Clinical Governance Accountability Board. Contribute to the review, development and management of safeguarding policies and processes. Work with Ingeus Leadership Teams, DWP and wider HAAS teams to support alignment with relevant safeguarding and industry standards. Support in identifying safeguarding concerns and risks and competently act upon such concerns Coordinate safeguarding training and education to ensure continued compliance Ability to work flexibly with both clinical and operational support colleagues Contribute to clinical governance activities that support safe, effective and compliant service delivery. Support with other organisational activities as required to support service delivery Experience: Essential Criteria Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, with safeguarding training at Level 3 or above. Proven experience of supporting and managing safeguarding concerns. Experience and knowledge of supporting vulnerable individuals in relation to safeguarding Ability to lead by example. Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing deadlines and maintain accurate records. Ability to continuously monitor new and existing safeguarding risks Excellent problem-solving skills and seeking efficient methods to find resolutions to challenges. Adaptable and able to work flexibly. Keen eye for detail and accuracy. Excellent communication skills. Able to demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude Willing to engage in continuous learning, reflective professional practice and personal development. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately, escalating concerns in line with policy and professional boundaries.
