Job Description This is a remote position. Sales Consultant – Intelligent Transportation Systems Location: Sweden – ideally Gothenburg, Malmö, Stockholm, or within easy reach of Sweden’s west coast Territory: Sweden and the wider Nordic region, particularly Denmark, Finland, and Norway Working arrangement: Home-based with frequent travel across the Nordic region The Opportunity Our client is an established international technology company specialising in advanced traffic detection, sensing, and Intelligent Transportation Systems solutions. They are seeking a driven and commercially ambitious Sales Consultant to strengthen their presence in Sweden and support the continued growth of their business across the Nordic region. This is a front-line, new-business-focused sales position for someone who enjoys being in the market, meeting customers, opening doors, and developing opportunities from the ground up. The successful candidate will take ownership of building relationships across Sweden while also helping to maintain and expand the company’s footprint in Denmark, Finland, and Norway. We are looking for a proactive salesperson with an established network within the Nordic transportation market. You should be comfortable approaching new organisations, arranging face-to-face meetings, attending industry events, and converting relationships into long-term commercial opportunities. This is not a role for someone who relies solely on inbound leads or existing accounts. You will be expected to create activity, identify opportunities, and represent the business directly in front of customers, partners, and public-sector stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute a sales strategy for Sweden and the wider Nordic region. Generate new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, referrals, industry events, and direct customer engagement. Build the company’s presence across Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Norway, with an initial emphasis on the Swedish market. Arrange and conduct regular face-to-face meetings with prospective customers, partners, consultants, and transportation authorities. Develop relationships with national and regional road authorities, municipalities, transport agencies, engineering consultancies, contractors, system integrators, and technology partners. Use an existing personal network and industry database to accelerate market access and create qualified opportunities. Identify upcoming transportation programmes, infrastructure projects, tenders, trials, and technology initiatives. Promote a portfolio of advanced traffic detection, radar, sensor, and Intelligent Transportation Systems solutions. Understand customers’ operational and technical challenges and position suitable solutions in partnership with internal technical teams. Manage the complete sales process, from initial engagement and opportunity qualification through to proposals, negotiations, and contract award. Maintain and grow existing customer and partner relationships throughout the Nordic region. Develop channel, distribution, and systems integration partnerships where appropriate. Represent the company at conferences, exhibitions, customer demonstrations, and industry networking events. Maintain accurate records of customer activity, opportunities, forecasts, and market intelligence. Provide regular feedback regarding competitor activity, customer requirements, market developments, and regional investment priorities. Work closely with international sales, product, engineering, and marketing colleagues to support customer engagement and successful project delivery. Candidate Profile The successful candidate will be a visible, energetic, and well-connected sales professional who is comfortable spending significant time in the field. You will be expected to take a front-footed approach to business development, actively approaching new customers rather than waiting for opportunities to emerge. You should have the confidence and credibility to engage with public-sector decision-makers, technical stakeholders, consultants, commercial partners, and senior management. Essential Experience Proven sales or business development experience within Intelligent Transportation Systems, traffic technology, smart mobility, transport infrastructure, or a closely related market. A strong understanding of the Nordic transportation and infrastructure landscape. Experience selling to or working with road authorities, departments of transportation, municipalities, transport agencies, public-sector organisations, consultants, contractors, or systems integrators. An established personal network or customer database within Sweden or the wider Nordic ITS market. Demonstrable success generating new business and opening previously undeveloped accounts. Experience managing complex, consultative, and potentially long-cycle sales processes. The ability to develop relationships with both technical and commercial stakeholders. Comfortable working independently and managing a geographically broad sales territory. Willingness to travel regularly throughout Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Norway. Fluent Swedish and strong professional English-language skills. Desirable Experience Existing relationships with Trafikverket, Swedish municipalities, regional transport authorities, engineering consultancies, or major Nordic infrastructure organisations. Experience with radar technology, traffic detection, traffic management, vehicle classification, intersection management, enforcement, smart city, or connected mobility solutions. Experience working with public-sector procurement processes, framework agreements, tenders, and infrastructure project cycles. Relationships with Nordic systems integrators, distributors, consultants, or transportation technology partners. Additional Danish, Finnish, or Norwegian language capabilities. A technical or engineering background within transportation, electronics, infrastructure, or mobility technology. Personal Attributes Proactive, tenacious, and commercially driven. Comfortable knocking on doors and creating opportunities from cold or underdeveloped accounts. Highly visible and relationship-focused, with a preference for meeting customers in person. Confident communicating with engineers, procurement teams, project managers, senior executives, and public-sector stakeholders. Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously within an international organisation. Organised and disciplined in managing pipelines, follow-ups, and sales forecasts. Able to combine immediate sales activity with longer-term strategic account development. Curious, credible, and able to understand technically complex products and customer requirements. Collaborative and willing to work closely with colleagues across different countries and functions. Location and Travel Candidates should ideally be based on the west coast of Sweden , providing convenient access to Gothenburg, Malmö, Denmark, and the wider Nordic region. Applications will also be considered from suitably connected candidates based in or near major Swedish cities, including: Gothenburg Malmö Stockholm Helsingborg Jönköping Linköping Regular travel across Sweden and the Nordic countries will be an important part of the position. Why Consider This Opportunity? This is an opportunity to represent an established international transportation technology company within a region that continues to invest in safer, smarter, and more efficient mobility infrastructure. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to develop the Nordic market, build meaningful relationships with major transportation stakeholders, and play a central role in expanding the company’s regional footprint.
