GFC has been on Salesforce since 2024. The foundation of our Salesforce org is Nonprofit Cloud (Agentforce Nonprofit) and is used by 85 users across fundraising, grantmaking, and operations. In addition, GFC supports three hosted initiatives that use Salesforce. In addition, we have an Experience Cloud portal that serves 800 users annually. The org is supported by 3 Salesforce admins for whom this is only a part of their responsibilities, plus a managed services partner. This role will: ● Support admins and users with advanced configuration, automation, reporting, and troubleshooting tasks ● Serve as an escalation point for needs that exceed the capacity of our internal team to meet but do not rise the level of needing our external partner’s support ● Ensure the optimal technical and functional performance of our Salesforce org, help ensure data quality, and contribute to the growth, scalability, and strategic direction of Salesforce at GFC This is a part-time contracted role, with an expectation of 40 hours per month, at a rate of $120 to $160 an hour, depending on location and experience. GFC is seeking an individual contractor who can commit to a 12 month agreement, with a 90-day checkpoint to validate the scope and adjust scope and hours as needed. We are not seeking a team or to replace our managed services partner at this time. This role will report to the Vice President of Operations and Governance. Key Responsibilities 1. Platform Administration and Configuration Day-to-day maintenance and functional setup of the Salesforce environment to ensure it remains operational and secure for all users. ● Declarative Configuration: Configuring standard and custom objects, fields, page layouts, record types, permission sets, email templates, notifications, and other Salesforce functionality to meet evolving business needs. ● Platform Governance and Health: Monitoring system performance, managing sandbox environments, and making license recommendations to maintain long-term platform sustainability. ● Release Management: Evaluating, testing, and implementing tri-annual Salesforce releases and third-party application updates to prevent disruption to existing functionality. 2. Data Management, Security, and Reporting Ensure that the information within Salesforce is accurate, consistent, secure, and useful for organizational reporting. ● Data Integrity and Hygiene: Conducting routine audits, deduplication, and cleanup projects to maintain the accuracy and consistency of records. ● Standards and Protocols: Establishing and enforcing data entry standards, naming conventions, and validation rules to ensure high-quality data collection at the source. ● Data Migration and Integration: Managing the import, export, and synchronization of large datasets between Salesforce and external systems and sources ● Security and Compliance: Ensuring data privacy and adherence to data security and access control standards. ● Advanced Reporting Support: Assisting Admins and users with advanced report building. 3. Automation, Process Optimization and Integration Build, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Salesforce Flows and related automation supporting grantmaking, fundraising, operations, and other organizational processes. ● Declarative Workflow Automation: Building and optimizing complex automation through Flow orchestration and workflow rules to streamline manual business processes. ● Custom Code Development: Designing and implementing scalable solutions using Apex, Visualforce, and Lightning Web Components (LWC) for complex logic that declarative tools cannot handle (nice to have, but not required) ● API and Middleware Management: Designing, building, and troubleshooting integrations with third-party applications (e.g., finance systems) using APIs and middleware. ● Quality Assurance and Testing: Developing comprehensive unit tests, regression testing suites, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scripts to ensure custom features are bug-free. ● Documentation: Documenting significant configuration, automation, and architectural decisions 4. Technical Support and Troubleshooting Serve as GFC's escalation resource for complex Salesforce issues that are beyond the abilities of GFC’s admins. ● Diagnosing and Fixing Issues: Including system errors, Flow failures, access and permission problems, unexpected system behavior, and integration issues. ● Support Coordination: Coordinate with Salesforce Support and third party vendors when resolution requires outside involvement. 5. Solution Architecture and Strategy Participating in the planning of the long-term vision of the platform and ensuring technical designs align with business objectives. ● Requirements Translation: Leading discovery sessions to translate complex business needs into durable, scalable technical blueprints and architectural designs. ● Roadmap Planning: Supporting the development and maintenance of a technology roadmap that aligns Salesforce enhancements with the organization’s strategic plan and operational needs. ● Technology Evaluation: Researching and recommending new Salesforce technologies, AppExchange solutions, or Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to drive innovation and efficiency. ● Architecture Standards: Establishing enterprise-wide guidelines for data modeling, system-of-record definitions, and cross-cloud integration patterns. Qualifications: ● 5+ years of Salesforce administration experience, or equivalent consulting experience, including: ○ Advanced Salesforce Flow expertise ○ Strong Salesforce security and permissions experience ○ Strong Salesforce data modeling and architecture skills ○ Experience with reports, dashboards, and custom report types ○ Demonstrated troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills ○ Experience Cloud and external user management experience ○ Sandbox, UAT, and deployment experience ○ Experience troubleshooting Salesforce integrations and connected apps ○ Strong documentation and requirements analysis skills ○ Sufficient development experience to recognize when declarative tools are not appropriate and to implement or advise on implementation of custom functionality when needed ● Demonstrated experience working within a nonprofit, foundation, or mission-driven organization, with familiarity in donor management and/or grantmaking business processes ● Hands-on experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud (Agentforce Nonprofit) for fundraising and grantmaking is strongly preferred, or with Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP). Prior experience with Marketing Cloud Account Engagement / Pardot is nice to have. ● Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and staff ● Strong project management skills, with the demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and meet deadlines ● Experience working with and coordinating work between internal staff and external consultants ● Desired certifications: Salesforce Admin and Nonprofit Cloud or NPSP; Pardot is nice to have. ● GFC is a global organization with staff working across multiple time zones. The consultant should have flexibility in their working schedule and regular availability across different parts of GFC's working day to support collaboration with colleagues globally. While the consultant is not expected to be available across all time zones or maintain an extended workday, the role requires sufficient flexibility to participate in meetings with colleagues in different regions. In practice, this will require regular availability during portions of both European and African business hours and U.S. Eastern Time, with flexibility to accommodate colleagues in Asia and other time zones when needed.
