Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Regular Job Profile: Technical Integration Eng II Job Summary: Key Job Responsibilities: Works with SVM and DoIT IT teams to develop and deliver scalable computer and storage systems supporting all facets of the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, including the school, research labs, and its operating teaching hospital. 15% Participates in the evaluation of new vendor software releases and impact. Documents and communicates system enhancements or changes 5% Serves as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, identifies needs, provides solution options, and communicates issue updates and resolutions 15% Runs, maintains, and operates technical systems and infrastructure 15% Integrates, identifies, troubleshoots, monitors, and resolves moderately complex, routine, and varied supported services, systems, network, and application problems according to established processes and procedures 15% Configures, maintains, upgrades, develops, and tests IT systems and services in alignment with industry best practices 15% Assists with the planning and coordination of system resources, upgrades, security, implementations, and integrations 15% Plans and directs staff implementation of small to medium technical projects as needed 5% Department: SVM Information Technology Compensation: Minimum starting salary is $95,000 annually. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience. Required Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year professional experience managing resources in a private or public cloud environment. Knowledge of scripting/coding modern programming languages like Python, Go, Java, or Ruby Professional experience designing, architecting,, or developing IT systems or services Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience with container and container orchestration solutions like Docker and Kubernetes Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a healthcare environment (veterinary or human medicine) Experience with Agile project management methodology and tools Experience with regulatory or security regulations, controls, and benchmarks like HIPPA, NIST 800-53, and CIS Education: Associates Degree required.
