Scientific Application Specialist

We are seeking a consultant to serve as a Scientific Application Specialist, focusing on the future of our Early Scientific Intelligence (ESI) service. This role requires bridging AI technology with the scientific community, ensuring ESI continues to provide valuable scientific intelligence aligned with current research priorities.

You will engage directly with researchers to identify their information needs, convert these needs into product specifications, and collaborate with product owners, NLP engineers, and software developers to enhance the platform continuously.

As an Application Specialist you will:

• Serve as the scientific application expert for the ESI platform throughout its full product lifecycle.
• Collaborate closely with research scientists to discern evolving needs and transform them into product requirements.
• Configure and optimize AI-driven scientific intelligence workflows, including relevance filtering and newsletter production.
• Validate and enhance AI-generated outputs such as article summaries, executive summaries, scientific classifications, and content recommendations with domain experts.
• Gather user feedback, evaluate platform impact, identify improvement opportunities, and assist in prioritizing future product development.
• Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and technology partners regarding scientific intelligence solutions.

Key Requirements:

• BSc or MSc in Life Sciences (e.g. Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering), Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical research, biotechnology, scientific informatics, research IT, digital product support, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of scientific research and literature, coupled with familiarity or interest in digital scientific solutions and emerging technologies like Generative AI, LLMs, NLP, semantic search, and knowledge graphs.
• Capacity to interpret complex scientific user requirements and translate them into actionable specifications, while collaborating with technical teams throughout the digital product lifecycle.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach, eagerness to explore new technologies, and the ability to forge trusted relationships across scientific and technical domains.
