The Laboratory of Behavioural Neuroendocrinology at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Scientific Associate to support a research program focused on sex and gender differences in brain health, aging, mental health, and neurodegenerative disease. Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), the Scientific Associate will provide senior scientific support through the development and execution of research projects, preparation of competitive grant proposals, scientific manuscripts, reports, presentations, and knowledge translation resources related to sex- and gender-based analysis, preclinical neuroscience, and translational research. The successful candidate will contribute expertise in behavioural neuroscience, neuroendocrinology, and Alzheimer's disease research, including the application of preclinical models, behavioural approaches, and experimental methodologies to investigate disease mechanisms, cognitive function, and factors influencing resilience and disease progression. Responsibilities will include experimental design, data analysis and interpretation, advancing research methodologies, and supporting high-quality, reproducible research. The Scientific Associate will contribute to grant strategy, collaborative research initiatives, and scientific communication while providing mentorship and guidance to undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and research staff. They will support trainee development through guidance in experimental design, research methods, data analysis, scientific writing, and professional development, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment that promotes scientific independence. The successful candidate will maintain high standards of scientific integrity, research ethics, regulatory compliance, and reproducibility while remaining current with advances in behavioural neuroscience, neuroendocrinology, Alzheimer's disease, sex and gender science, and translational research methodologies. This position is primarily based at the CAMH 250 College Street Site, with flexibility for hybrid work arrangements in accordance with operational requirements. Lead and contribute to the design, implementation, and execution of preclinical research projects investigating sex and gender differences in brain health, aging, mental health, and neurodegenerative disease. Develop experimental approaches and methodologies, including behavioural testing, cognitive assessment, and neuroscience techniques, to investigate disease mechanisms and factors influencing resilience and disease progression. Conduct and oversee data analysis, interpretation, and integration of complex experimental datasets while supporting reproducible and rigorous research practices. Apply expertise in behavioural neuroscience, neuroendocrinology, Alzheimer's disease, and translational research to advance research objectives and scientific initiatives. Prepare and contribute to grant applications, scientific manuscripts, research reports, presentations, and knowledge translation materials. Support collaborative research initiatives through scientific communication, project coordination, and integration of multidisciplinary expertise. Mentor undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and research staff in experimental design, research methods, data analysis, scientific writing, and professional development. Support trainee development by fostering a collaborative, inclusive research environment that promotes scientific independence and critical thinking. Ensure adherence to research ethics, animal care protocols, regulatory requirements, data management practices, and responsible conduct of research. Contribute to the advancement of the research program by identifying new research opportunities, supporting funding strategies, and maintaining awareness of emerging developments in behavioural neuroscience, neuroendocrinology, Alzheimer's disease, and sex and gender science. onsibilities: A PhD in Neuroscience, Behavioural Neuroscience, Psychology, Neuroendocrinology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline. Minimum one (1) year of postdoctoral training in an academic, hospital, or research institute environment. Research experience in behavioural neuroscience, neuroendocrinology, sex differences research, neurodegeneration, and/or related fields, with demonstrated experience leading complex research projects. Demonstrated expertise in preclinical neuroscience, including experimental design, behavioural testing, cognitive assessment, transgenic rodent models, and interpretation of complex experimental data. Research experience in Alzheimer's disease, neurodegeneration, or cognitive aging, including familiarity with disease mechanisms, preclinical models, biomarkers, and translational approaches. Experience investigating the effects of sex differences, hormones, and aging on brain health is strongly preferred. Extensive experience with neuroscience laboratory techniques, including fluorescent immunohistochemistry, microscopy, electrochemiluminescent assays, tissue processing, quantitative imaging, and troubleshooting experimental methods. Demonstrated expertise in statistical analysis, data interpretation, research reproducibility, and use of analytical tools such as Statistica (preferred), R, Python, GraphPad Prism, SPSS, or equivalent. Strong knowledge and application of Sex- and Gender-Based Analysis Plus (SGBA+) principles in research design, analysis, interpretation, and knowledge translation. Strong record of scientific productivity, including peer-reviewed publications and demonstrated ability to prepare manuscripts, grant applications, reports, presentations, and knowledge translation materials. Experience contributing to competitive research funding applications, including scientific strategy, proposal development, and collaborative grant submissions. Demonstrated experience mentoring undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and research staff, with the ability to provide guidance in experimental design, research methods, data analysis, scientific writing, and professional development. Demonstrated ability to foster an inclusive, collaborative training environment that promotes critical thinking, scientific independence, and trainee development. Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Knowledge of research ethics, animal care protocols, regulatory requirements, data management practices, and responsible conduct of research is an asset Compensation & Benefits: Salary is competitive and based on experience, with a hiring range of $93,822.73 – $117,278.41 per year.
