About us: Hiver is a modern, AI-driven customer service platform used by companies across healthcare, finance, logistics, education, and technology. We help teams deliver fast, human support across email, chat, phone, WhatsApp, and more — without the complexity of legacy helpdesks. We’re a challenger brand in a category dominated by over-engineered tools. We build software that is simple, powerful, and genuinely helpful, and we operate internally with that same philosophy. If you want meaningful ownership, thoughtful teammates, and work that ships, Hiver is a great place to do it. Opportunity: As an SDE Intern at Hiver, you will have an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career and gain valuable hands-on experience in building and supporting our product. During your internship, you will work closely with our team of experienced engineers to design, build, and ship features that impact real customers. We are growing rapidly and handle a substantial amount of email traffic daily for our users, so you’ll gain exposure to complex technical challenges and learn how high-quality software is built and operated in production. Key Responsibilities What will you do? Delivery & Execution Implement well-defined product features and bug fixes in our backend and platform services with close guidance from your mentor. Quality & Craftsmanship Write code that follows Hiver’s coding conventions and is easy for others to read and maintain. Add basic unit and integration tests for new code paths when prompted, and learn how we think about test coverage and reliability. Growth & Technical Leadership Actively learn from pairing sessions, code reviews, and design discussions, asking questions to deepen your understanding of our architecture and systems. Key Requirements What are we looking for? Someone who is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Basic understanding of backend development principles (APIs, services, data flows, error handling). Familiarity with at least one programming language such as JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js), Python, Java, or similar. Comfort with fundamental CS concepts like data structures, algorithms, and complexity at an introductory level. A strong willingness to learn quickly, ask questions early, and incorporate feedback into your work. Eagerness to collaborate with engineers, participate in code reviews, and communicate clearly about progress and blockers. Understanding of databases, both relational (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL, is a plus. Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or similar), CI/CD, or basic monitoring/observability is advantageous.
