Scripps Sports is seeking a Segment Producer to develop, pitch, and produce compelling content for live sports programming. This position plays a critical role in identifying timely stories, producing high-quality segments, and collaborating with talent and production teams to deliver engaging content to viewers across multiple platforms. Remote work environment in a Scripps Sports approved property state. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Pitch, develop, and write content related to the latest national, international, and sports news stories. Produce compelling segments that support daily shows and special programming. Deliver quick-turn, high-priority packages while maintaining exceptional production quality and editorial standards. Write scripts and collaborate with Senior Producers to refine segment elements and ensure they meet quality and timing requirements. Work closely with talent, editors, producers, and production teams to coordinate graphics, video, sound, and other production elements needed for live segments. Organize and oversee all creative components required to successfully execute assigned segments. Create banners and supporting graphic elements as needed. Identify and pitch engaging story ideas, guests, and interview opportunities. Monitor news, sports, and social media trends to identify relevant content opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcast Production, or a related field preferred, or equivalent years of experience. 3+ years of experience in television news, sports programming, or live broadcast production as a Line Producer, Segment Producer, or similar role. Experience pitching, developing, and producing live reporter packages and guest segments. Proven experience writing and producing content for live television. Strong understanding of broadcast production workflows and newsroom operations. Experience working under deadline pressure in a fast-paced environment. Regular use of computers, broadcast systems, production tools, and video conferencing technology. Schedule flexibility may be required, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special event coverage based on production needs. WHAT YOU'LL BRING: Strong writing, storytelling, and editorial judgment skills. Ability to cultivate and pitch story ideas and secure compelling guests. Demonstrated ability to oversee and coordinate all creative elements supporting live segments. Strong visual storytelling instincts and experience identifying impactful video and graphic elements. Solid social media experience and understanding of digital audience engagement. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively work with diverse teams and communities. Proven time-management, organization, and multitasking abilities.
