The role The Senior Accountant enables and supports core business functions by providing efficient and effective financial and management accounting services in an accurate, timely and relevant manner. The role is primarily responsible for financial accounting and compliance, audit coordination, month-end processing and reporting, payroll oversight, statutory reporting, financial controls, finance process improvement, data quality and reporting support, staff supervision and mentoring, and finance business partnering. This includes providing timely financial information and advice, assisting managers to understand financial performance, supporting budget monitoring, and explaining variances and financial impacts. This is a full time permanent position, based at our Foundation office in South Brisbane. Who are you? You are an experienced finance professional with strong technical accounting knowledge and confidence across financial and management accounting. You are highly organised, detail-focused and comfortable managing reporting cycles, compliance requirements, payroll oversight and competing deadlines. You build trusted relationships with stakeholders and can translate financial information into clear and practical advice. You bring a collaborative leadership style and enjoy mentoring, supporting and developing others within a small team environment. You are proactive, values-aligned and motivated to improve processes, strengthen reporting and contribute to work that supports children and young people. Key criteria Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or a related discipline, with CPA or CA membership. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a finance role, with strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and financial compliance requirements. Demonstrated experience across month-end reporting, reconciliations, statutory reporting, audit coordination, payroll oversight and financial controls. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using accounting, payroll and reporting systems such as Xero, PaysOnline, Power BI or similar. Proven ability to supervise and develop staff, partner with stakeholders, manage competing priorities and communicate financial information clearly. What is our difference?
