Position Summary The Corporate Senior Accountant is a key member of Nichols Cauley's internal corporate accounting team, responsible for the firm's own general ledger, financial reporting, and technical accounting matters. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role owns month-end and year-end close processes, ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP — including revenue recognition under ASC 606 — and supports the accuracy and integrity of the firm's internal financial statements. This is a non-client-facing, internal corporate role focused on the financial operations of Nichols Cauley itself. Key Responsibilities Manage and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Prepare and analyze internal financial statements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP. Apply and maintain compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards for firm revenue streams, including contract review, performance obligation analysis, and related disclosures. Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, and intercompany transactions. Partner with the Controller on technical accounting research, policy documentation, and process improvement initiatives. Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process with accurate historical data and variance analysis. Assist with internal and external audit requests, including preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation. Ensure proper internal controls are maintained over accounting processes and recommend enhancements where needed. Reconcile and monitor balance sheet accounts on a recurring basis, investigating and resolving discrepancies. Collaborate cross-functionally with HR/payroll and accounts payable functions to ensure accurate financial reporting of firm-wide transactions. Mentor and provide guidance to accounting staff as needed, reviewing work for accuracy and adherence to firm policy. Support special projects, including system implementations, process automation, and ad hoc financial analysis for firm leadership. Qualifications Required • Active CPA license required. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. • Minimum 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger ownership and month-end close. • Demonstrated working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with hands-on experience applying ASC 606 revenue recognition principles. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research and document technical accounting positions. • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and sound professional judgment. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-accounting stakeholders. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general ledger/ERP systems. Preferred • Public accounting or professional services firm experience. • Experience with multi-entity or multi-location consolidations. • Experience supporting external audits or working with outside auditors.
