Senior Accounts Payable/ Cash Specialist - 12-month FTC

About the Role

We are delighted to support our esteemed client, a leading and innovative company in the insurance industry, in their search for a highly skilled Accounts Payable Specialist. This permanent position offers a unique opportunity to enhance your career in a supportive and dynamic environment.

This is a hands-on role within a small, professional Finance team, suited to an experienced AP/ Finance Operations professional who is comfortable working in a high-value, low-volume environment. The role has a strong focus on payment controls, cash management, reconciliations, month-end close and maintaining accurate, audit-ready financial records.

The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day AP and cash activities, manage high-value transactions with a high degree of accuracy and control, and work closely with Finance colleagues and Group Finance teams across international locations.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Payments

• Own the end-to-end AP process for a low-volume, high-value invoice portfolio, including invoice receipt, validation, coding, posting and approval.
• Process high-value payments to vendors, clients and group entities through ERP and banking platforms.
• Ensure appropriate payment controls, approvals and supporting documentation are in place.
• Review invoices and payment requests for accuracy, completeness and compliance with internal controls.
• Resolve AP and payment queries efficiently with internal stakeholders and external parties.
• Maintain accurate, complete and audit-ready AP records.
  
  

Cash Management

• Monitor daily cash balances and movements.
• Support payment runs, ad-hoc payments and international transactions.
• Coordinate with Group Finance and relevant internal stakeholders on cash requirements.
• Ensure cash activity is accurately recorded, reconciled and supported by appropriate documentation.
  
  

Reconciliations & Month-End

• Support the month-end close, with particular responsibility for AP and cash balances.
• Prepare monthly bank, balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
• Perform cash and expense analysis and investigate unusual or material movements.
• Identify and resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Maintain high-quality, well-supported reconciliations for audit and internal review.
  
  

Reporting & Audit

• Support quarterly Group, Board and regulatory reporting.
• Provide supporting information and respond to external audit queries relating to AP, cash and reconciliations.
• Work closely with Finance teams to resolve issues and ensure timely and accurate period close.
• Contribute to maintaining a strong control environment across AP and cash processes.

Experience & Skills

• Strong experience in Accounts Payable or Finance Operations.
• Experience managing high-value invoices and payments, with a strong understanding of financial controls and approval processes.
• Experience working in a regulated or highly controlled environment or insurance/reinsurance experience is advantageous.
• Hands-on approach with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Confident communicator with strong stakeholder and audit-facing skills.
• Strong MS Excel and ERP experience.
• Oracle and Account Reconciliation Cloud (ARC) experience is advantageous.
• Accounting or Finance qualification advantageous but not essential.
• Able to join a team for a defined period and contribute effectively from day one.
