Job Summary Pyyne is seeking a Senior AI Backend Engineer to work as a consultant out of our South American Office. This is a high-impact remote role for Pyyne as we build up our Applied AI services and support a large financial services client. A successful candidate in this role will spend the majority of their time designing, building, and operating AI and LLM-powered backend systems, with the remainder of their time focused on the infrastructure, automation, and operational tooling to keep those systems reliable, observable, and cost-effective. This is a highly client-facing role and ideal for a great engineer who loves working with people. This is a remote role! TLDR: This role is ideal for someone looking to spend 70% of their time working with AI & LLM Backends and 30% supporting the infrastructure around these. Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end design of an AI-powered financial services solution, from architecture decisions through to production deployment Design and build agents that watch jobs, detect failures and anomalies, and take defined remedial actions within human-in-the-loop approval workflows Build a reporting layer to agents for increased visibility Set up monitoring and alerts for client’s SQL operations to catch failures early Translate financial domain requirements into scalable backend systems, ensuring compliance, data integrity, and auditability standards are met Maintain trust with clients by setting honest expectations and delivering on them Must Have Skills: Senior-level experience in Python backend engineering (~6+ YoE) Experience building agentic AI or LLM tool-use systems, ideally with human-in-the-loop approval workflows Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with data pipeline or job orchestration ability to move quickly with a small footprint, building and running production systems Comfort operating production data systems, with a monitoring, and observability Strong communication skills, with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Fluent English, native or near native level Nice to Have Skills: Background in Financial services Benefits: Flexible remote working environment.
