About the Role The role is accountable for providing analytical and data modelling expertise to support safe, customer-service oriented and cost-effective fuels logistics solutions for customers of bp Australia sales channels. The role uses internal and external data sources to understand logistics performance, demand, costs and supply chain efficiencies to report on performance and generate insights to optimise performance. The role owns and delivers core logistics analytical processes, with a focus on continuously improving quality and efficiency. The role supports the logistics team and sales channels to identify, understand and capture opportunities to improve business performance. What you will deliver Key Responsibilities Logistics Network & Operations Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Australian logistics network, including carriers, operating regions, terminals, supply points, fleet types, delivery models, and business segments (ground fuels and aviation fuels). Maintain carrier and supply point mappings, including truck types, delivery models, and regional coverage. Assess logistics models, supply impacts, and network constraints to support customer onboarding and operational planning. Freight Rate Management & Salesforce Manage freight rate requests for new customers through Salesforce. Liaise with third-party freight carriers to obtain, validate, and consolidate freight rates. Support internal customers during customer onboarding by providing accurate logistics rate inputs. Carrier Engagement & Commercial Support Act as a key contact for carriers on rate-related discussions, clarifications, and confirmations. Maintain carrier rate outcome and tender result records, including won and lost opportunities. Provide structured monthly carrier feedback on rate outcomes and tender decisions. Fuel Escalation & Regulatory Reporting Calculate and distribute monthly fuel issue rates in line with approved escalation methodologies. Prepare and submit AdBlue sales and volume reports in compliance with Australian Government reporting requirements. Freight Rate Review & Recoveries Review existing carrier freight rates to ensure recoveries are aligned with contractual and commercial agreements. Perform annual carrier freight rate reviews using Distribution Cost Index (DCI) models, fuel issue data, and carrier inputs. Payment Validation & Suspense Resolution Review transfer and pairing reports to validate freight costs and expected payments. Support the resolution of carrier payment queries by investigating discrepancies and validating rates. Clear suspense items by providing missing or corrected rate information in coordination with Hired Cartage and Finance teams. Financial Forecasting & Annual Planning Build and maintain logistics financial forecasts, including the Annual Logistics Plan. Use DCI models, sales forecasts, and issue assumptions to develop initial-year and annual logistics forecasts. Support midstream pricing strategies by providing logistics cost and volume data. Tender & Risk Evaluation Support tender processes and new customer evaluations by assessing logistics costs, risks, and operational feasibility. Provide logistics inputs for commercial and customer credit reviews. Operational & Data Analysis Conduct ad hoc logistics and operational analyses to support cost optimisation and business decisions. Review loading and unloading performance data on a biannual basis using carrier and terminal data. Systems & Reporting Use SAP, Salesforce, Power BI, and supporting logistics systems to manage freight rates, reporting, forecasting, and payment validation. Develop and maintain Power BI reports to analyse logistics data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights. Key Skills & Capabilities Strong understanding of logistics operations, freight pricing, and carrier management Advanced data analysis and reporting skills (Excel, Power BI) Experience with SAP and Salesforce in a logistics or commercial environment Strong customer and carrier communication skills Financial forecasting and commercial analysis capability High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills Collaborate closely with the Logistics Analyst NZ to drive improved performance and alignment across ANZ. This role has primary accountability as AU analyst, but remit will also include analyst activity for NZ as required including providing leave cover for NZ Analyst. Shift Timings 3AM - 12PM IST Skills & Competencies Understanding of supply chains (transport, logistics, storage, distribution) Highly numerate with proven ability and experience in building, using and maintaining large data sets and models that support problem solving, decision making and optimisation. Effective communicator with a high degree of confidence in dealing with a variety of internal & external customers. Able to distil down complex problems and analysis into a form that customers understand. Commercial mindset with the ability to assess both the short term and longer-term implications of decisions. Flexible, able to adjust to changing priorities and work across multiple projects with multiple teams. Ability to understand problems and provide data to inform relevant alternative options. Have a curious mindset and the drive to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities. Strong attention to detail Advanced Excel and Power BI skills are required. Previous experience using SAP PRE, SAP Ariba and Salesforce is desirable. Experience and Qualifications Graduate in any field, preferably with a background in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or Data/Analytics. You will work with You will be part of the Logistics ANZ Team, a dynamic team whose purpose is to support our 3rd party transport carriers to deliver safe, reliable, efficient and cost-effective Logistics services to bp’s Customers across our Retail, Commercial, Dealer, Aviation and Marine businesses.
